In just six months, Trainwreck has established itself as San Antonio’s live music “Light at The End of the Tunnel†- Hank T. Moon, Program Director 92.5FM The Outlaw. Passionate fans have bombarded Trainwreck’s Myspace page, www.myspace.com/trainwrecksatx, visiting the band’s profile an average of over 4,500 times a month. That’s more than many established artists the band itself admires and grew up listening to.
The Trainwreck sound is nearly impossible to describe or label. It’s not country, not southern rock, not rock… it’s all of the above, bonded together with harmony vocals, profound songwriting, crafty musicianship, and a live performance packed with energy and expression.
Radio stations are already ripping demo tracks off of promo CD’s and airing them for listeners who can’t wait for the band’s first “real†recorded project, currently in production.
To put this into perspective, take a trip back 14 years to 1994 and imagine yourself standin’ in some smoky Oklahoma bar on a Saturday night, cold brew in hand, watching “some young guys†named Randy Ragsdale, Grady Cross, Cody Canada, and Jeremy Plato performing live on stage. Would you have realized you were staring at 4 young men who would 14 years later, stand atop the Texas / Red Dirt scene with their own brand of rock-n-roll country music?
How many people today can actually say, “I was there from the beginning?â€
How many people can honestly say that from day one they recognized and appreciated the original, distinctive, unique, extraordinary, and unreal sounds and songs coming from the stage?
If you can’t say, “Me, I did!â€, good thing for you, lightning does strike twice! “Trainwreck has the ability, drive and desire to become "the next big thing"!†– Debbie Green, Debbie Green Promotions.
Every BIG band needs a storybook beginning. Trainwreck definitely has one. Bassist Kyle Reed, who’s big brother Keegan plays bass for Full Throttle and superstar Adam Hood, brought band mates and childhood friends Kendall Merryman and Robby Fernandez together with songwriting and vocal genius Bryan Boyce to form today’s Trainwreck. After just three months together the band had developed a cult-like fan base and began playing shows around the San Antonio area including the weekly 92.5FM Outlaw Songwriters’ Jam/Open Stage at Rolling Oaks Bar & Grill.
After just a couple of open stage/jam sessions and support gigs at Rolling Oaks Bar & Grill, the venue’s GM, Philip Delgado, decided Trainwreck was THE BAND that would pull him into the band management arena. “I’ve seen hundreds of shows over the past several years and Trainwreck is only the second group of artists I have ever considered working with, these guys are the real dealâ€, states Delgado.
Trainwreck is Bryan Russell Boyce (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), Kyle Reed (bass, harmony vocals), Kendall Merryman (lead guitar), and Robby Fernandez (drums, harmony vocals).
