Polymono Phonotone

About Me

Handmade, living room-produced electronic popular music from Berlin.
Famous rock-promoters suggest: First thing to have is a bio. So here we go:Polymono Phonotone has been formed in the late 1970th. Of course, it needs to be mentioned here, that young Andreas did not know by that time that he actually was Polymono Phonotone. Instead he spent a lovely clueless childhood in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. After keeping his mothers pots for a drums set, which sounded the best when played by wood spoons, his mother decided that it would be much nicer to get a flute for the clueless child. Some years later, after tiny Andreas had long forgotten were he had put his flute, he started taking piano lessons for about 10 years. This he enjoyed much more than the previous instrument. One day, out of the sudden, an old acoustic guitar appeared from somewhere. Andreas decided that it would be nice to learn to play some chords on it. So he started teaching himself to play the guitar. He was already much closer becoming Polymono Phonotone than he was in the late 1970th. He bought himself a second-hand electric guitar and an amplifier. He formed his first band, trying to sound like the Smashing Pumpkins, which never worked out. Since nobody else wanted to, suddenly teenage Andreas was also the singer of this band. They played some concerts, split but still like each other. He found some other musicians and formed a new band. After the drummer and bass-player started not to appear anymore, twenty-something-year old Andreas and the second guitar-player not only replaced the drummer by a drum machine but also their guitars by casio-toy keyboards, moog synthesizers and a Vermona-electric organ. Andreas was pretty close now, becoming Polymono Phonotone. He spend one year in the UK where he got in touch with Latin Percussion instruments. Almost Polymono Phonotone–Andreas, decided to take his Vermona-organ and to move to Berlin where he still lives. He re-collected the synthesizers he used to play on ebay and started to record noisy (in the sense of low quality) songs in his apartment. He had a short intermezzo as a bass-player in a Berlin Pop Band and worked on his recording skills. Not to long ago Andreas finally detected that he actually is Polymono Phonotone. Right now he is recording new songs and thinks about how to play his music live and where to find his flute.
