About Me

NEWS:
Hello there. April 18th 2009. May is approaching and the spring gives us new energy, wonderful. Am in Bristol right now, working with Ali Chant, a musician and engineer who I met through John Parish. We are mixing and recording for my next album, getting good work, beautiful new melodies and music.I'll be playing around a little in the next time, but only in my local area of Cologne, Germany, where we are releasing MORA WITH The GOLDEN GUN in May/June. SO check the listings and look out for downloads sites with the songs and the album.
My studio album, Mora with the Golden Gun, is a fun, entertaining soundtrack to the imaginary film about Mora371, a secret agent. Released in Winter 2007-8 in DK and Benelux, Now we are doing it in Germany, and for the rest of the world, there willl be digital downloads avaible for everyone.
21 Days my concept album from last year, is getting released in October 2008 in the Netherlands . It is in special bound, limited edition. And very nice! You can also buy the CD in CD Baby store and read more below.
A bit about me:
I, Alice Rose, am originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, where I spend the first 18 years of my life, singing in church choir and playing the violin and the piano(which i detested!).My grandfather was a pianist and organist, and I was brought up in a house with 2 pianos. I'd sneak into the kitchen, secretly, to make music on a little egg harp, ( a kitchen tool used to cut eggs). I used to be really afraid that someone would find out. When I was 3 years old I first heard and saw a violinist on TV and immediately fell in love with the instrument's shape and highpitched sound. The first record I bought at 11 was the soundtrack for a film: Out of Rosenheim, I adore film music and till this day, the record is one of my favorites. At 19 I moved to Berlin where I got involved in theatre and music. I moved to Prague in 1996, where I started singing with an electronic rock band, Mare Nigrum, a very loud and somewhat Massive Attack inspired band. My first band ever...Since then music has been my main thing, and I've played in several bands and done loads of shows. In 1998 I got my first casio keyboard which helped me create my first solo tunes(I own 15 mini casios today). In 1999 I self-released my first 4-track casio album and started playing out with solo sets, very lo-fi at the time, 1 casio, 1 violin, 1 drum machine and a mixer with some vocal fxs. In 2006 I released my album, Tales of Sailing, a compilation of songs from my journeys, co-produced with some of Germany's finest electronic producers.
In summer 2007 I released my album '21 Days' in Juli 2007. 21 Days was a special concept i made in connection with my art academy diploma in the winter and I released it in an ultra limited edition of 442 copies. Each day, for 21 days, i wrote and recorded a song and made a drawing and uploaded it to myspace for the world to hear. When i finished, I decided to make a small book of it and you can buy it at CD baby for 21 $.http://cdbaby.com/cd/alicerose2
Here's a text about my 2006 album, TALES OF SAILING:
Featuring 13 tracks by the Danish musician and songwriter, 'Tales of Sailing' is a blend of mesmerizing vocals, viola, keys and beats which spans a range of styles folky trip-hop, modern electro, lo-fi experimental, and up-tempo dance. From the simple vocals & accordion sea shanty of 'A Tale of Sailing', to the dancy 'Rare Bird' and Trash, from the electronica of Absent Lover and Dark Cloud to the tweaked drum-n-bass of German pop song 'Schön Wäre es'the unifying force in all of them is the achingly beautiful voice of Ms. Rose. Aside from her own compositions, she also collaborated with electronic musicians Gabriel Ananda and Frank Martiniq, as well as others.
