Mad Agnes is six years old, although we've been making music on our own and collectively for much longer than that. We've always loved lots of different kinds of music. Mark and Margo are classically trained (Mark in classical guitar at Hartford Conservatory and Margo in Piano Performance at Oberlin), and Adrienne is a self-taught player with a theater background and love of polyphonic singing. All of us have plenty of choral experience. Together we combine the elements of the contemporary singer-songwriter with influences of Celtic, classical, folk/rock, and a touch of street theatre.
Among the three of us, we've been a school bus driver, window cleaner, factory worker, music therapist, office assistant, circuit board manufacturer, Bose sales associate, music store manager, print advertising representitive and Olan Mills photographer (for one day). Mad Agnes, however, is our first love and full-time job. We write most of our material and tour around the country and the UK with guitars, keyboard, mandolin and bass, plus our three voices. Sometimes we wish we could just sing and leave our instruments at home, but then we'd miss the magic we can create by doing something lush and unexpected.
