Well, if there's one thing a High Priestess is NOT interested in ladies, it's housework.
I see it as a necessary evil but not one of the top ten things any woman looks forward to in her day. Going out with the girls? Yes. Sitting on the couch with your fav chocolate and a girly dvd? Yes. Cleaning out the oven and getting in the washing before it rains? No. Don't get me wrong, I'm still the only one in my household who notices that the vacumn hasn't been emptied and there's no clean towels in the bathroom and the fridge has something in it that should have been tossed out with the ark, but it doesn't mean that I enjoy being the 'number one cleaner' in the household, just because I'm the wife, the mother, the adult female here.
My own mum comes from a generation of women who take housework to whole new heights. She cleans behind the stove and irons not only the teatowels but underwear too. These are not things I do. If I don't move the stove, then I can't see how grubby it is under there. And there must be more to life than ironing my husbands socks and jocks. But at the end of the day, it makes my mum happy because it's how she was brought up. And I have a funny feeling she feels sorry for my poor husband
- I even have him doing dishes. He has opposable thumbs and according to the documentaries I've seen on tv, this means that he is rather high up on the evolutionary chain and therefore is completely capable of loading and unloading a dishwasher. Does this make me a horrible woman?
One of those women my mother warned me about? Or maybe it just makes me a modern woman - one who wants to live in a home clean enough to be healthy, and messy enough to be happy in.
And God Created Woman . . .
One day in the Garden of Eden, Eve calls out to God, "Lord, I have a problem!"
"What's the problem, Eve?"
"Lord, I know you've created me and have provided this beautiful garden and all of these wonderful animals, and that hilarious comedy snake, but I'm just not happy."
"Why is that, Eve?" came the reply from above.
"Lord, I am lonely. And I'm sick to death of apples."
"Well, Eve, in that case, I have a solution. I shall create a man for you."
"What's a 'man', Lord?"
"This man will be a flawed creature, with aggressive tendencies, an enormous ego and an inability to empathize or listen to you properly. All in all, he'll give you a hard time. But, he'll be bigger and faster and more muscular than you. He'll be really good at fighting and kicking a ball about and hunting fleet-footed ruminants, and not altogether bad in the sack."
"Sounds great," says Eve, with an ironically raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, well. He's better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick. But, you can have him on one condition."
"What's that, Lord?"
"You'll have to let him believe that I made him first."
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real.
But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part this site, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou *
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies *
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size *
But when I start to tell them *
They think I'm telling lies. *
I say *
It's in the reach of my arms *
The span of my hips *
The stride of my steps *
The curl of my lips. *
I'm a woman *
Phenomenally *
Phenomenal woman *
That's me. *I walk into a room *
Just as cool as you please *
And to a man *
The fellows stand or *
Fall down on their knees *
Then they swarm around me *
A hive of honey bees. *
I say *
It's the fire in my eyes *
And the flash of my teeth *
The swing of my waist *
And the joy in my feet. *
I'm a woman *
Phenomenally *
Phenomenal woman *
That's me. *Men themselves have wondered *
What they see in me *
They try so much *
But they can't touch *
My inner mystery. *
When I try to show them *
They say they still can't see. *
I say *
It's in the arch of my back *
The sun of my smile *
The ride of my breasts *
The grace of my style. *
I'm a woman *
Phenomenally *
Phenomenal woman *
That's me. *Now you understand *
Just why my head's not bowed *
I don't shout or jump about *
Or have to talk real loud *
When you see me passing *
It ought to make you proud. *
I say *
It's in the click of my heels *
The bend of my hair *
The palm of my hand *
The need for my care. *
'Cause I'm a woman *
Phenomenally *
Phenomenal woman *
That's me. *

And just in case you didn't know! the High Priestess site was started by a beautiful soul called Maria Amalexia, who lives in London, UK. This is Maria and her hubby:
When Maria decided to go into tertiary study, she sent out a bulletin asking if there was anyone who was prepared to take over this site for her, and that's where I came in! My name is Hana and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
And this is me and my hubby:
It is with love and gratitude that I've been lucky enough to continue what Maria started . . . a profile dedicated to celebrating being a woman.
I look forward to a time when another woman, somewhere in the world, will come forward and take on this profile to add her own flavour and colour and inspiration.
Then perhaps "High Priestess" will continue it's way around the world . . .

And ladies, don't forget to laugh and have fun. Life is just too hard if you can't do at least one thing in your day that makes you smile . . .
€ Smile though your heart is aching € Smile even though it’s breaking € When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by € If you smile through your fear and sorrow € Smile and maybe tomorrow € You’ll see the sun come shining through for you € Light up your face with gladness € Hide every trace of sadness € Although a tear may be ever so near € That’s the time you must keep on trying € Smile, what's the use of crying? € You'll find that life is still worthwhile € If you just smile . . . €
