Horror Music for Horrible People

About Me

..
Justice, Illinois – home of Resurrection Cemetery, Resurrection Mary and Chicago’s newest Horror Music project: NIGHTSHADE. NIGHTSHADE was formed by Usurper guitarist/songwriter Rick Scythe in early 2007 - at first as a solo project to create more experimental music than was possible in Usurper, but then when Usurper broke up in June 2007, Rick decided to make NIGHTSHADE a full-time band.
Musically NIGHTSHADE is a combination of Monolithic Heavy Metal, Gothic Dark Rock, Horror Punk, 70's Hard Rock, Old-Time/Blue Grass 1920's –..30’s American Folk Music and Horror Movie-Type Atmospheric Orchestrations.
The blend of the abrasive, metal guitars, with traditional rock arrangements and melodic haunting undertones is enhanced by atmosphere created by a wide array of real background instruments, vocals and sound effect devices, NOT synths! Lyrically the inspiration comes from paranormal events, cryptozoological creatures, monster folklore and other tales of terror .
On Halloween 2007 Nightshade released their first demo entitled, "Magic Potion" - which was recorded mixed and mastered at Boss Studios (Chicago-August 2007), with producer Mr. Faust and co-producer Rick Scythe. The "Magic Potion" CD is now available online - available through MySpace and other internet outlets, as well as a very limited CD.
In mid 2008, guitarist/vocalist, Rick Scythe, along with Mr. Faust (strings, lead guitar & organs) and DanYell (Keys and Organ) added Bassist, Naughty Norty (Shallow Grave Satanic Symphony) and drummer Timedeus to NightShade, to complete the live incarnation of the band.
On Halloween 2008 Sempiternal Productions will release the debut NightShade album entitled, "Autumnal Equinox" - which will be released as a 13 song full length CD + DVD - complete with promo videos, a photo gallery, interviews and more. The 13 audio tracks will also be available to download through iTunes, Amazon Music, MySpace and other internet outlets. BEWARE the Autumnal Equinox!
