About Me

Born 1978. - self-taught audiovisual artist and performer. Already as a child in Poland Konrad was interested in radio-broadcasting. Influenced by Depeche Mode and the KLF Konrad often participated in various music competitions. Amongst them a mix competition at the local radio station in Lodz (where Konrad was born and raised). In the process he ruined his grand moms tape recorder and even though his contribution – under the name of Mode- Boy – never got to be broadcasted, he never gave up on experimenting with music. His unfailing good spirits resulted in being invited to the radio station, where he got could watch but not touch – besides playing Dame Fortune in radio contests. But Konrad wanted to take a different role, so one day he walked right in from the street with the idea of his own radio show. Time and place was 1994 at the small local radio station Det Aabne Baandvaerksted (The Open Radio Workshop) in Aarhus, Denmark – three years after he, his mum and his sister had moved there. During Konrad’s years at The Open Radio Workshop he produced and hosted the weekly radio show called “Decibel” with focus on electronic music to his liking. Soon after he took a short course in radio-engineering and sound production. His knowledge, experience but most of all his “drive” led him on to the Danish National Radio (DR P3), where he later in 1994 co-hosted a series of radio shows. At the same time Konrad made a name for him self as a techno DJ and concert arranger – an important but less memorable experience. At the end of 1996 Konrad began to create his own music, which rapidly caused in a radical personal progress. The first result was the demo “Music For Headphones EP” – at that time with his partner Henrik Midtgaard and produced together with Nils Aakesson under the name Decibel Art Labs. The first gig with his music took place in spring 1998, as Konrad – rather surprisingly – advanced to the finals in the local talent-competition “We have the stage – you have the music”. Since then Konrad have worked alone with the on-off help and friendship of Nils Aakesson. From the start of Konrads rather mischievous approach to music, there has been a distinct mark to his music. From a humoristic, playful and stout expression, the music of Konrad has shifted to the more solemn, harmonious, atmospheric and intimate. The music reflect his own personal development as much as an artistic maturing and the urge for being honest to himself. Konrads approach to music is that of creating an original vibe, with creativity, humor and experimentation as key elements. One could call him rather uncompromising... January 1999 Konrad contribute to “Radio Rooms” - a sound art event broadcasted on Danish National Radio P1. Definitely one of Konrad`s more experimenting productions to this day. Autumn 2000 Konrad Korabiewski is granted a 2-year scholarship from the “Danish Art Council”(Government Funding). He chooses to use the scholarship in Poland, where he is connected with the electro acoustic studios at Krakow Musical Academy. During this period he contributes to various music collaborations thus experimenting with music in different forms and expressions. The next couple of years Konrad’s good spirits results in multiple experiences – from audiovisual opera variations (!), a MTV live performance to experimental multimedia projects. Beside his own productions Konrad have made remixes for Danish artists Under Byen and Amstrong. Konrad also finds the time to write about and review music for several magazines and music-sites. Since 2004 Konrad Korabiewski has been a member of The Danish Composers Union (DKF). Konrad thrives in obscure findings and moods that perhaps only he perceives...
