[email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------ --We are a band of five consisting of Matti Meyer (vocals/guitar), Sebastian Kotheimer (lead guitar), Michael Thomczyk (piano/keyboard), Michael Lorse (drums) and Stefan Lorse (bass). Stylistically we can be classified as a rock/alternative band. We are the result of a long development process which began with the end of our singer Matti’s relationship to his long-standing girlfriend. At that time he wrote the song “My last Goodbye”. By accident he met his former schoolmate Sebastian Kotheimer in June 2006 (whom he had lost track of in the meantime) and played this song to him. Euphorically they came up with the idea of making a band and pretty quickly were able to win over an excellent pianist with Michael Thomczyk. At that point (June – September 2006) Sebastian, Matti and Michael wrote the songs “Where the sun may go”, “Topstarter”, “Marry me” and “Me in the crowd”. But the search for a drummer and a bass player was extremely difficult. After a couple of attempts with various musicians the three of them realized disillusioned that the chosen people were either personally or musically not the right ones. That is why their attempt rested until January 2007. With the brothers Lorse, who have been known to our guitarist Sebastian from childhood on, we were finally able to complete “McConnery”. As a band we have the ambition to capture feelings, emotions and truths in our music. Our songs are not supposed to just sound but also to tell stories and describe moments that enable the listener to share for example in the sorrow and restlessness in “My last Goodbye”, in the longing and wanderlust in “Where the sun may go”, in the happiness in “Marry me” and “Topstarter” or in the dreamy love in “In dieser Nacht”. It is true that nearly all of our songs are written in English but we think it more authentic not to translate the two German songs “In dieser Nacht” and “Ein Träumer gewesen” into English. In our opinion that would alienate the comprehensive meaning. To us music is more than just chords following each other, clinging to each other and pushing off. To us it is more than the pursuit of fame and glory. It is the call of our souls, realized with chords and melodies, it is a medium which enables us to reveal our innermost part, a kind of philosophy and contentedness in the midst of today’s fast pace, or simply said: music is art.
