Music, books, involved parenting, studying spirituality (goddess gospels, gnosticism, Celtic, recovery, feminine divine), pets, wild birds, crafty stuff when I have time, writing my way out of what ails me, living authentically. Cooking, Baking (teaching my son) and anything Italian or having to do with Italy. I also am learning more about wine, wine tasting...and cigars. Love both. A perfect evening involves sitting on my front porch overlooking Lake Superior, Pinot Grigio, a mellow cigar and someone I love. Lots of someones I love is even better!
Interesting, forward thinking, eclectic folk with non-judgemental attitudes. This used to say "everyone is worth meeting once" but I have sadly learned that this is not true.
My interest here is everywhere -- I'll listen to (and probably enjoy) anything other than country or gangsta rap. Blue October, My Chemical Romance and Sean Paul are new loves for me. I love blues and Italian Opera and I come from the land of Polka. My mood is always elevated by the greatest rock band of all time: Queen. If I need to sway and sing the blues, I'm all about Mick Sterling. I dance to Shakira, to the horror of my son.
All Mafia movies, no matter how bad they are and anything with Sylvester Stallone in it (again, no matter how bad -- though I didn't ever get through the end of Judge Dredd). All the Harry Potter movies, lots of Disney/Pixar stuff...movies I could watch over and over: Somewhere in Time, Casablanca, The Princess Bride, The Godfather, Spanglish, Lilo and Stitch. Since I welcomed Netflix into my life, I've watched more foreign and Indie films.
I watch too much in the winter, especially...The Reality Show I never miss is Amazing Race as my son and I set that time aside to just be together. I also watch Heroes...Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, The Black Donnelly's is promising, anything on the Food Network, the Daily Show...Bold and the Beautiful (one little 30 minute soap opera doesn't hurt, right?), The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Spongebob Squarepants, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
I love to read and spend my days surrounded by books...I work for a publisher, trained to be a writer and could pretty much use the stacks at my house for furniture. Put it in front of me and I'll give it a shot. I've been known to read three or four books at a time, just to keep the pace lively, but that's only part of it. If I am really enjoying a book I don't want them to end. I have a really hard time saying goodbye to the characters, the story, the moods.
All my heroes are real-life people in my own world. Friends and family who have suffered and kept their faith intact without bitterness.
