ROBERT 'BERT' McCRACKEN iS THE LEAD SiNGER OF THE PUNK ROCK/EMO BAND, THE USED. BERT WAS BORN iN OREM, UTAH ON FEBRUARY 25,1982 & WAS RAiSED iN A MORMON FAMiLY DURiNG HiS YOUTH. HE WAS iNSPiRED BY MiCHAEL JACKSON TO BECOME A SiNGER AT A YOUNG AGE. HE ALSO WENT TO HiGH SCHOOL WiTH BAND MEMBER QUiNN ALLMAN, BEFORE DROPPiNG OUT. ALSO BEFORE THE UASED, HE PLAYED THE TRUMPET iNA LOCAL BAND iN HiS HOMETOWN. WANTiNG TO SEEK NEW MUSiCAL OPTiONS, FOR A BAND iN HiS HOMETOWN WHO NEEDED A SiNGER [THE USED].AFTER HiS AUDiTiON, QUiNN, JEPH & BRANDEN WERE SO BLOWN AWAY, THAT THEY ASKED HiM TO JOiN. HE WAS SO iNVOLVED, HE HiTCHHiKED TO BAND PRACTiCE. SOON, BERT MOVED OUT OF HiS HOUSE & LiVED WiTH QUiNN & HiS PARENTS FOR AWHiLE, BEFRE THEiR BAND BECAME A HUGE SUCCESS. McCRACKEN WAS PART OF THE STRAiGHT EDGE COMMUNiTY FOR A WEEK [ALTHOUGH HE iS KNOWN TO HAVE SPENT TiME EXPERiMENTiNG WiTH DRUGS & ALCOHOL] & FREQUENTYL HARDCORE SHOWS iN THE UTAH VALLEY AREA. BERT CAN PLAY GUiTAR & HAS JUST RECENTLY REFRAiNED FROM SCREAMiNG AS HE ALMOST HAD TO GET A THROAT OPERATiON. ONE OF HiS FAVORiTE PLACES TO PERFORM iS AUSTRALiA. ON THE 27TH OF MAY, 2003 BERT FELL ON STAGE DURiNG "ON MY OWN" & COULD NOT CONTiNUE SiNGiNG. HE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSTiTAL WHERE HE WAS DIAGNOSED WiTH ACUE PANCREATiTiS, A SEVERE iNFLAMATiON OF THE PANCREAS CAUSE BY AUTO DiGESTiON OF THE PANCREATiC TiSSUE BY iTS OWN ENZYMES. QUiNN Allman iS THE GUiTARiST FOR THE BAND THE USED. HE GREW UP iN OREM, UTAH. HE WAS BORN ON JANUARY 18, 1982 iNTO A MORMON FAMiLY. HE WAS QUiTE REBELLiOUS AS WELL. AT A YOUNG AGE, QUiNN STARTED PLAYiNG in BANDS. HiS FiRST BAND CALLED "HEY SANTOS!". AT AGE 15, HE VECAME A MEMBER OF THE USED, iNFLUENCED BY BANDS SUCH AS FACE TO FACE, GOLDFiNGER, THURSDAY, KENNA, WEEZER, JiMMY EAT WORLD & NEW TRANSiT DiRECTiON. HE iS OPENLY BiSEXUAL & iS ALSO A VEGETARiAN & SUPPORTS PETA. Date:Unknown-1978 Age:29 Sex:Male Location:Salt Lake City, Utah Dan Whitesides, 27, is the new official drummer of American rock band The Used. He replaced former drummer and founder of the band Branden Steineckert who was kicked out of the band in the summer of 2006. Dan has played with New Transit Direction for about seven years.Dan began playing drums when he was 14. “I remember my dad bought me a drum set one year for Christmas,†he says. And from there, his passion for the drums took off. Dan takes his cues from the greats like John Bonham, Keith Moon, Eddie Shore, and Mitch Mitchell, but he also has a big place in his heart for drummers like Peter Moffett (Wool, Government Issue, Burning Airlines) and Darren Zentek (Kerosene 454). He often signs things "Dan Rules" as opposed to "Dan Whitesides"."I play a little guitar, but that’s just because my whole family plays guitar, and I picked it up from being around them. [I didn’t play it] in any bands or anything like that though. Mainly just drums". Dan was involved with school music briefly. “I took snare drum lessons in seventh grade. I learned how to hold my sticks, learned stick technique. I still do the same warm-ups that the teacher had us do. I still do those to this day. It helped me out and really opened the door to new ideas.†Before joining The Used, Dan Whitesides was the drummer for numerous Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, bands, The New Transit Direction, Mich!gan, Sandkicker, Fale, Adherence, Fahrenheit 451, The Federation, Sprinklerhead, The Kill, The Wolfs, Form of Rocket, and Young Blood, just to name a few. THEiR DRUMMER AT THE TiME, BRANDED STEiNECKERT, SENT THEiR MUSiC TO JOHN FELDMANN WHENEVER THEY FiNiSHED A SONG. FELDMANN WAS iNDiFFERENT ABOUT THE MATERiAL UNTiL BRANDEN SENT HiM THE SONG "A BOX FULL OF SHARP OBJECTS", AT WHiCH TiME HE KNEW HE WANTED TO WORK WiTH THE USED. FELDMANN FLEW THEM ALL OUT TO HiS HOUSE TO RECORD THEiR UNOFFiCiAL DEMO. AFTER RELEASiNG THEiRD DEBUT SELF TiTLED ALBUM iN 2002, THE BAND TOURED WiTH GOLDFiNGER, WARPED TOUR & OZZFEST.
