American Collectors:
a film about people who collect things
Americans devote vast amounts of money, time, and closet space to their collections. Studies show that 30% of the population of the United States collects. Why do we do it?American Collectors is a documentary that explores why people collect and the impact that collecting has on their everyday lives.
This feature-length documentary will be produced by Binary Productions to PBS/Discovery Channel standards in High Definition and Standard formats. The film will be released to festivals, cable channels and DVD rental outlets.

Bob Ridgley, Producer
Bob has over 20 years of experience in film and audio production as owner of Binary Recording Studio in Bellingham, Washington. He was an instructor at Northwest Film School and is currently helping to develop a film program at Western Washington University. He won the Mary Pickford Independent Film Award in 2005 for his tireless support of independent filmmaking in Northwest Washington.
A collector himself, Bob has over 1,000 mid-20th century plaster "nodder" figurines.
Terri Krantz, Director
Terri has worked as a director, assistant director, screenwriter, and script consultant. In addition to her extensive filmmaking experience, Terri's twenty-plus years as an antique dealer give her unique insight into the world of collectors.
June Hathaway, Production Assistant
June has contributed to a number of independent film projects as production assistant, script consultant, and actress. She also studied with veteran documentary filmmaker Dal Neitzel. June draws on her background in print journalism to investigate why collectors collect.
