About Me
In 2003, four sophomores in highschool started an accapella quartet at Forest Lake Academy. They chose the name "Committed". Committed started in 2003 as a quartet at Forest Lake Academy. They performed the national anthem at many FLA basketball games, and they perfomed at various school functions. In 2005, their senior year in high school, they added two new members, Bryan Lee and Alain Gervais. Committed had its ups and downs that year with members changing due to highschool pressures and college decisions. They added Geston Pierre at the very end of the school year. Their first performance as a sextet was at their graduation where they performed, "A Few More" by Take 6.Upon graduating high school, the majority of the group decided to go to Oakwood College; and they vowed to continue to sing together. However the beginning of their freshman year things weren't going smoothly, and committed suffered the loss of it's last founding member. With the freshman concert rapidly approaching, Commited continued to rehearse with 5 members. They were having rehearsal one night in one of the member's room and Theron Thomas, a 2005 graduate of Pine Forge Academy, happened to be there, and he learned his part for a "few more miles" in ten minutes! From that point on Theron became an official member. Committed had their first performance at Oakwood College at that concert. God blessed! And from that point on committed has been singing at various school functions there. At the beginning of the second semester, they found that one of the members had been involved in an accident and was not returning to Oakwood. By the grace of God, a young man had transferred to Oakwood that semester and Maurice Staple became an official member. Their sophomore year one another one of the members didn't return to Oakwood. Finally, Committed's last addition, David King, came along second semester with the willing spirit and an added plus for playing the piano.Their sophomore year they continued to sing at Oakwood, and they sang many times at Madison Mission SDA Church, they also sang at the Von Braun Center during Alumni Weekend. They also traveled to Pine Forge Academy and New Jersey and ministered there. They had their first concert at First SDA Church in Patterson, New Jersey in April 2007. Although the members in Committed are still young and learning, their goal is to continue to sing until Jesus returns. Committed's biggest influence is Take 6. Committed is committed to using their music as a ministry. The ultimate goal of Committed is to draw souls to Christ and to reach of all kinds of people with their music ministry. They are connected to God, each other, and their ministry. They look forward to what God has in store for them!
