Born and raised in Southeast Pennsylvania, Eric Sumpter began singing at the age of five. He fascinated many with his eagerness to perform at such a young age. After singing at local churches and events, it became clear that the Lord had a great work for Eric to accomplish for God’s glory. Growing up in the church, Eric was a regular soloist and pianist for services and programs. At thirteen he was enrolled at Pine Forge Academy. It was here that Eric’s passion for ministry began to flourish. He furthered his study of music by joining the renowned Pine Forge Academy Concert Choir and became a featured soloist under the direction Mr. Jason Max Ferdinand. While a member of the choir he had the opportunity to perform extensively across the United States where he had the privilege of sharing the stage with legends such as Bill Cosby, Bobby McFerrin, Donnie McClurkin, Take 6, Kim Burrell, and gospel legend Richard Smallwood.After graduating from Pine Forge Academy in 2004 he relocated to Huntsville, Alabama to attend Oakwood University. While at Oakwood, Eric’s musical accomplishments have continued. He has been a member of both the esteemed Oakwood University Aeolians and the Lloyd Mallory Singers both under the direction of Dr. Lloyd Mallory Jr. This has given him the opportunity to perform in many venues both in the United Sates and abroad, including Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany and the island of Bermuda. In the spring of 2008, he along with the United Student Movement Association of Oakwood University were very proud to release The Experience: Renewed; a double disc album featuring 32 tracks of Oakwood University Alumni and Students. Some featured on the album included grammy award winning artists Mervyn Warren, Take 6, and Virtue!Eric has devoted his time to spreading the love of Jesus Christ through music. It is Eric’s hope that his message will be influential in sharing the LOVE of Jesus with the world. Eric looks forward to what God has in store for him.
