David Veslocki enjoys a musical career that assumes no boundaries, treading the many lines between classical, jazz, pop and rap. As it should follow, David holds education to be sacred, and enjoys sharing his passion amongst his diverse students.Guitarist David Veslocki was born on January 5, 1983, in Hartford Connecticut, and grew up enjoying a broadly diverse and successful music life. A professional musician since the age 14, David was performing at the Hartford Jazz Festival, the Webster Theatre, Bushnell Park, the Litchfield Jazz Festival, and in venues overseas in London with with guitar great Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers, Kool and the Gang, and the Average White Band all in his early teen years.A young disciple of Jazz Guitarist Paul Bollenback, Frank Macri, and Tom Tribuzio, David excelled rapidly as a Pop and Jazz guitarist, winning the Louis Armstrong Award, the Tom Yalanis Award, the Hartford Jazz Society Award, and taking the All State Jazz Guitar spot twice by his graduation at Conard High School. David was admitted to the Eastman School of Music in 2001, where he would grow to become the schools first Jazz and Classical Guitar Double Major.While at Eastman, "Mr. Veslocki has developed a refined technique, an exquisite tone and a sophistocated sense of style and artistry"- Nicholas Goluses. David gave a World Premier of Eastman Faculty faculty member Ricardo Muldoon's "Guitango", performed with jazz giants Clark Terry, and Conrad Herwig, was featured soloist with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, and performed with the Rochester Philharmonic. David won "Best New Pop Rock Group" in Downbeat Magazine in 2001, with his band Groove Brewery.David continued his studies as he was admitted into the Yale School of Music, where he studied with guitar great Benjamin Verdery. It is no wonder that Benjamin Verdery described David in the following way; "David Veslocki is an example of a new breed of classical guitarists whose musical gifts allow them to excel in several different musical arenas.". While at the Yale, David Has received the Elliot Fisk Award. Also while at Yale, David collaborated with several of his peers and world renown composer John Adams, putting together a performance of Adams' "Scratchband" at the Beinecke Rare Books Library. David Performed in masterclasses while at Yale for Elliot Fisk, Sharon Isbin, Anthony Newman, the Eden-Stell Duo, Jose Cabanero, Fred Hand, and Frank Tirro. David World Premiered "10,000 Cranes"; a piece for studio orchestra and electric guitar by composer Pete Wier in Avery Fisher hall in 06.Following his Masters Degree, David was accepted into the Artist Diploma program at Yale, giving him the opportunity to head the guitar programs of both Conard High School, and Hall High School, both schools recognized nationally, and internationally for their performing Arts. The program David leads at these schools are both thoroughly unique, giving young guitarists daily attention, and hosting "Guitar Week", a week long music festival, and performing arts seminar. David Recently put together the "Guitar Ambassador" program, which will carry his students into the inner cities of Hartford, and New Haven to share the gift of music with children, ages 8-16.Also while at Yale, David performed the Vivaldi Guitar Concerto, with the Giovanni Solisti Orchestra in 2007, performed the music of Fred Frith at the Stone in NYC with the Dither Electric guitar quartet, and did all of the guitar studio work for political pop musician BJ Bleu on his album "American Salvation". David also performed in Maui, Hawaii at the Annual Ben Verdery "Guitar Love Event".David Will perform the Rodrigo Fantasia Guitar Concerto with the Hartford Symphony in 2009 on April 4th. Other future collaborations include composing "the Imagination Contata" with his songwriting company Verano in conjunction with Tony Award winning actor Dan Fogler's production company. Veslocki's group the 45's is a Hartford Favorite, regularly seen at Arch Street, Sweet Jane's, Zen Bar, and elsewhere, while his new trio Elemental is unfolding as one of the most unique sounds in the area.
