About Me

Pianist, organist, and composer Dan Campolieta has been described by peers and critics as "versatile," "sensitive," and "daring." An organist and freelance musical artist currently residing in Connecticut, Dan is the true musician's musician, versed in many classical, jazz, and popular styles with compositions ranging from strictly tonal chamber music, to boundary shaking contemporary works. Jazz pianist Earl MacDonald has publicly stated that Dan is "one of the most versatile musicians" he has ever dealt with. When in High School, organist Larry Allen described Dan as being "able to play anything." Dan is indeed able to play a variety of styles including cocktail jazz piano for any occasion, legit classical piano and organ, pop, funk, group or solo jazz, instrumental and vocal chamber music, klezmer, classic and contemporary broadway, and wedding music. His current working chamber trio has performed in Spain. An avid composer of jazz music and classical chamber music, several of his new compositions will be premiered this coming Fall including a Rhapsody for Cello and Actor, and a March for Brass, Organ, Percussion, and Choir. Dan has been accompanist for as many as 40 music and drama majors at UConn each semester, is organist at Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford, teaches private piano, jazz and composition, and is the assistant music director and accompanist for the Simsbury Summer Theater for Youth in Simsbury, CT. Dan's musical interests range from historically informed early music, to the most avant-garde, and everything in between. He can be seen playing the beautiful 68 rank Aeolian Skinner organ weekly for Saturday and Sunday services at Asylum Hill Congregational Church, a community open to and affirming of all God's people.Dan owns a 1976 Rhodes Electric Piano, a 1969 Wurlitzer 200, a 1969 Clavinet C, a Roland VK-8 Organ Clone, and a Kurzweil PC-88. He is also an avid New York Mets fan.
