Vance has been a performing artist and songwriter for more than 20 years. He is known for his keen lyrical sense and perfectly arranged harmonies. His first solo CD release, “Here Goes … SOMEthing!†is a long awaited collection of original tunes he penned over the last two decades.
Since late 2001 he has been Music Director for Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone and entertained audiences with his dynamic performance as lead guitarist. Prior to Herman’s Hermits Vance performed as a solo artist and with bands at the top clubs in New York City including the Hard Rock Café, Peppermint Lounge, China Club and Irving Plaza.
In 1986 The Monkees recorded and made a million seller of Vance’s song, "That Was Then, This Is Now†as the theme for their comeback tour. It was the title song from a five song EP that Vance released with his group, The Mosquitos, in 1985.
Vance was lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist for The Mosquitos during their run in the early to mid 80s as one of the most popular club bands in the Long Island and NYC area. The group was a 60s influenced garage rock revivalist band that synthesized the Merseybeat and British R & B and gained the notice of trade publications.
They were known for their original songs when most other bands were doing covers exclusively. In 1984-85 The Mosquitos presented acoustic shows long before MTV’s unplugged. Their hard driving performances took them from Sparks, a local Long Island venue, to clubs in New York City including the Peppermint Lounge, Beacon Theater, Irving Plaza and Folk City. Shortly after their 1985 release the group disbanded, but has a cult following online.
