[THE J.NOLAN STORY]
Since the other one was wayyyy too long(lol)....19 year old hip-hop artist. J.Nolan has been making music unofficially for 7 years and officially for 3 years. Originally from New Haven, Connecticut. Lived in California for a few years as a kid. Been in Atlanta since 9 years old. But the background of it all:In 4th grade J.Nolan's older brother was already rapping and influenced him to try his hand at writing a verse....Of course it sucked and he quit for about 3 years. Then in the 7th grade Nolan resumed writing for a few months and gave up again because noone really cared about music like that at the time. Right before high school he broke his leg and started taking music on a more serious level just because there was nothing else that he could do for approximately 3 months.During that time, he decided he would hone the skills and went back to school in 9th grade with a notebook full of rhymes and surprised everyone. From 2003-til 2005 J.Nolan was just freestyling and writing with friends for "oh! and whoo!" reactions. Right after Kanye West dropped "LATE REGISTRATION" is when OsirisThe Prophet made the name Manifest to form their duo as emcees recording songs on a tape recorder over popular instrumentals. Nolan's cousin Yung B Da Producer had just come back from New Jersey around that time and they discovered that he made beats that fit the direction they really wanted to take their sound. Therefore, instead of leaving him out of the loop and just making the beats, he was added to the group.
By June of 2007, J.Nolan had recorded 6 mixtapes locally and knew that music was definitely what he was put on this earth to do and made it his agenda to be the most successful artist in hip-hop that he could possibly be. He and Yung B Da Producer went ahead and continued making music after graduating and eventually ran into the likes of DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon. Nolan gave them both copies of one his mixtapes and recieved a call back from Cannon the following day saying that the CD was "CRAZY" and that he was eager to hear more from the young artist. So they began visiting the radio station(107.9 fm in Atlanta) for a few months with new music hoping to one day be played live on-air. That never happened so J.Nolan and Yung B went back to depending on themselves to make things happen.A full year and 6 additional mixtapes later, J.Nolan is still pursuing his dreams and making good music with his latest project [Fresh Produce]. He linked up with D.Jae Roots and released it June 10, 2008. The mixtape is 17 songs in length featuring 100% original production from various underground producers. One of the tracks, "Saturday Night Fever" was released and debuted on 107.3 WICB(beonair.com) in Chicago on the Young Fresh and Mike B "The Cool" radio show a month before the actual release of the mixtape and was the number one requested song for 3 weeks straight in the upcoming artist portion of the broadcast. J.Nolan was recently inducted into
the WICB hall of fame list along with other artists that were featured on the show.J.Nolan and Yung B Da Producer have linked back up and plan to drop an EP entitled "The Up-Bringing 2.0" this year. The original was released in December of 2007 and the responses were good enough that they felt it was time to revive that feeling. Those that enjoy soulful hip-hop music will definitely enjoy the upcoming EP. No further information is being released right now about "The Up-Bringing 2.0". J.Nolan is also working on many more mixtapes to be dropped in the very near future as well as continuing to promote [Fresh Produce], which is basically an album that is offered as a free download. Be on the lookout for any and all things J.Nolan related. He has made it crystal clear that he plans to be around for a very long time and in a very major way.
