For Recording Artist Young Riez there is nothing he’d rather do than make music. Good music that is. The young rap trendsetter still continues to represent for his hometown of Atlanta, GA and continues to make doubters wish they had signed him a long time ago. Who would have knew that the boy who was quiet in class and often considered different than his peers would grow to become what most doubted. A Star. 2003 marked the coming out of Young Riez when he made it on Showtime at the Apollo in January. Winning was not his objective, but just having the opportunity to be on national T.V. was all he needed to take that next step into the recording industry.
As of 2006, The Prince of the South has plans of opening a new lane of music which will motivate and all ages can relate to. Young Riez growth as an artist can be heard from his 2 Mixtapes he’s released and his locally accepted Indie album “The Riezultâ€. Those moves found the young handsome MC garnering respect from his peers and even record labels.
“I think its time for a change in Hip-Hop. Eventually rappers are gonna have to switch their styles up because honestly, gangsta music is getting played out. It’s only so many guns you can shoot on a record before somebody comes and test you in real life," says the ambitious young artist, whose hottest song "A-Game" became a local sensation with women and surprisingly, the men also. "I was in the studio with my producer at the time, and we were going through samples, and we came upon an old sample of Inoj-Let me Love you down off the So So Def Bass All-Stars - Vol. 2. When she made the beat I was kind of weary about the situation because I was wondering how it would be accepted. After a couple of listens I went and wrote to it overnight. The next day I came back and before we knew it, we had a hit. “The Riezult†finds itself catering to women on songs like “Stay tonightâ€,â€Yo Name†and “A Gameâ€. But everything wasn’t peaches and cream at time of recording the album. “Things that I wrote about on the Riezult were true. I mean, yes they had a twist on them in certain ways but as far as the stories and the women. It’s all trueâ€. On the inspiring "Ode to Hip-Hop," Young Riez tells of his story and how he got into wanting to be a mc and the people who encouraged him to step up and grab the mic. "Ever since I was young I was into Hip-Hop heavy. My dad used to buy the albums for me because my mom wouldn’t let me have music that had cursing in it, but being me; I found a way to work around the system." Testifies a laughing Young Riez. The street anthem "We So Hood," grabs listener’s attention from the jump with hard hitting lyrics and messages you can’t overlook. Targeting the problem in society today and different situations teenagers go through because, as young Riez sees it. It’s true, so why avoid it?
"No Name,†shows Young Riez going through a situation where he is being caught up between his private life and the entertainment life only to fall victim to a situation gone badly. "R.I.E.Z (Really is Easy)†shows the young M.C. having fun while spending money and letting others know that what they do might be hard but to him it’s fairly easy. And on the Emotional track "Mom Dukesâ€, Riez tells of the struggle that his mother went through to get him where he is at and the almost death experienced he encountered. "I did mom dukes because I was at a point in my life where I wanted to let my mom know how I felt about her helping me throughout life. At birth I barely made it and I thank my mom on my song letting her know that everything is gonna be okay because ya son gonna make it for us." he proclaims over the Stevie Wonder Sample. For Young Riez, Music will always be the one thing he loves, but he continues to stress education as the number one thing students must have. As of 2006, Riez has graduated from high school and earned a Diploma from Riverdale High and is currently working to earn his Associates Degree in Art History from Gordon College. "Every where I go I try to stress education hard, and let kids know that knowledge is important. By today’s standards to go to school and do the right thing is crazy and looked down on, but think about it. If you stay in school and get an education more doors and opportunities will open up for the future. Besides, wouldn’t you rather have something else behind your first name than your last nameâ€, explains Young Riez.
No matter what the case may be, Riez is still the kid who grew up from Mc Callie Boulevard to Utah Circle dreaming of making it big and opening doors for not only his family, but his peers also. Ever since that day at his first talent show at Kendrick Middle School Young Riez has had his eyes on the prize. By the time he was 15, doing shows late nights and hanging in the studio came natural to the aspiring MC. Gathering inspiration from his favorite artist such as Ludacris, Jay-Z, Field Mob, Fabulous and Nas. “I think the first time I actually said that I really want to do this was when I saw the Sammie video for “I like itâ€. Even though he was singing, just seeing that somebody my age was doing what I knew I could do was all the conformation I needed†bolstered an energetic Young Riez.Six years later Young Riez is still going strong building up his empire known as Stand Up Entertainment, working on several Mixtapes and putting together another album for the fans to enjoy. 2007 plans to be a major year for the Atlanta Native as he seeks to find a home for his company (Stand Up Entertainment) and start making noise in the industry. Though he plans to venture into other areas including movies, televisions and clothing, Hip-Hop will always be the field he’ll return to. When asked if he feels pressured to live up to the hype. Young Riez replies “This is what I do. At the end of the day I’m Wayne Edward Moore II who is trying to build an empire and can’t anything change that. Hip-hop is wifey and like Ludacris said “I’m Married to the game so we got a prenuptial, so if the game don’t act right, I’m still getting my cutâ€, so at the end of the day, it is what it is.Contacting Young Riez:[email protected]
