Born and raised in Spanish Harlem, New York City. Fidel was destined to work in film and television. The youngest of four siblings, he always entertained family and friends. He attended public school in New York City and later graduated from high school in Pastillo, Juana Diaz, PR. Fidel continued his education at La Universidad Inter-Americana (Inter American University) in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In public school, he participated in many school plays and sang in the chorus. It was his high school years in Puerto Rico that he was given the opportunity to audition for El Coro de Puerto Rico (The Chorus of Puerto Rico) and was accepted to sing with this prestigious choir. Although he missed the opportunity, he never gave up on his dream. Upon returning to New York City, he took a job working with the New York City Board of Education as an administrative assistant. During that time, he decided to take acting career seriously and began taking the necessary steps. He did his research, found a well known photographer, got his headshots and started sending his pictures out to casting directors. His first major gig was on the show "Here and Now" starring Malchom Jamal Warner from the The Cosby Show. He played the guy in the "Chicken Costume." Needless to say, the "chicken" stole the scene. Due to poor ratings the show was canceled by the network. Fidel continued working on shows, such as "New York Undercover" and "Law and Order." Since then, he has worked with many of Hollywood's leading men and women and has been honored to work alongside such noted directors as, Sydney Pollack, Sam Rami, Peter Askin, Barbra Streisand, Ridley Scott, Robert Dinero, Martin Scoresse, Spike Lee, Steven Sodenbergh, Nancy Savoza, Woody Allen, Oliver Stone, Karyn Kusama, Roland Emmerich, just to name a few. He's appeared on stage in the Off-Off Broadway production, "OUT!" and was featured in "The Alliance" a local West Village newspaper and continued performing around local clubs and bars with the group "Passion Unlimited." Fidel continues working on film, television and commercial projects. His resume of film, television and commercial projects is testament of his longevity in a business that often isn't too kind. A member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1994, he has seen many actors given up on their dream. Fidel makes a modest living working as a "Background Artists." Believing that his big break will come one day. His reputation and professionalism is appreciated by many casting directors, such as Grant Wilfley Casting, Central Casting/NY, Sylvia Fay Casting, Amerifilm Casting, Extra Extra Casting, TEC Casting, Barbara McNamara, Kristine Bulakowski Casting, Judie Fixler Casting and Billy Dowd Casting just to name a few. What the future holds for him? He would firmly say, "There is no definite answer to that question. For "Giving Up" is not in my vocabulary. You never know when an opportunity will come and you have to be ready and prepared for it. Right now, it's paying some of the bills and I am not good at waiting tables or others, LOL! Being surrounded by it all is such a wonderful experience. Work hard, believe in yourself and never, ever take "No" for an answer. It's that pride and love in what you do is something no human on earth can take away from you."
