TO: GOD
FROM: THE DOG
Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?
Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?
Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.
1 . I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?
The 10 Dog Commandments for Responsible Owners --------------------------1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you get me. ---------------------------------------2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. ------------------------------------------------------3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial to my well-being.------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- 4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, entertainment and friends. I only have you. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------5. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it. ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------6. Please don't hit me. I can't hit back, but I can bite and scratch, and I really don't want to do that. You always win that fight. ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------7. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. I don't speak your language. Perhaps I'm not getting the right foods, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------8. Take care of me when I get old. You will grow old, too. You'll hope someone cares. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------9Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch," or "let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for me if you are there. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------10. Remember, I love you.
I've done a lot of research on Pit Bulls over the last month...I had a 4 month old pit puppy for a couple of days before I found a home for it very sweet, was wonderful with my dog and 2 cats. I did see that they were specificly bred for fighting and that will always be part of there instinct, but defense is any animal or humans instinct. I was worried about passing this dog on to someone and then finding out a few years down the road that it had done something bad. I guess I have that fear of all the animals that I help pass along. We just have to remember that animals are animals. We can never trust any animal (or person) 100%. Cocker Spaniels and Poodles have the highest incidence of recorded dog bites...I've never read a headline saying anything about a "Killer Cocker". Why??? simply because...smaller dog=smaller bites=not fatal=not interesting ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------Before opening your home to any animal you should do some research. Too many animals are placed into shelters everyday because of impulse buying and lack of education. Puppies and kittens are adorable, but they only stay that way for a few months. I guarantee that THEY WILL RUIN SOMETHING in your home........................................................ ............................................................ .......................watch the movie...it's a little bit of propaganda. but it's necessary in my eyes...have to get people jumping on the band wagon...and not so much in defense of the dogs but more towards responsponsibility of ownership..... ..

Things that I have learned from my dog
When loved ones come home run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity of a joy ride.
Allow the wind and fresh air in your face to be pure ecstasy.
If what you want lies buried, dig till you find it.
Never pretend to be somthing you are not .
No matter how often you are scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Run, romp and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop and lie on your back in the grass.
On hot days drink lots of water and lie in the shade of a tree.
Be loyal.
When your happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
When it's in your best interests, practice obedience.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm, but stop when you've had enough.
And most of all...when someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently .
Everyone that opens their homes and hearts to animals
