About Me

This site is being lovingly maintained in memory of Grandma Z (1918-2007). Still what you see is still mostly Z. And what you Z is what you get.

My Interests

Grandma Z loved her children grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, eating ice cream and M and M's, talking about the weather, praying for others, doing word searches and jigsaw puzzles, vegetable gardening, raising violets, finding and picking blackberries, swinging and talking on the porch swing, making bread, baking cookies and giving them away, crocheting, shopping at the Dollar General, telling stories about her life and growing up years, teaching Mrs S how to drive a car, visiting her homeplace, making feedsack aprons, riding to the Mill with Papa, visiting Mount Zion, living in the Valley, taking a Sunday afternoon drive, going to church, going to town, and always spoke fondly and with great longing of going home to heaven. Everyone who knew her misses her, but all are happy that she finally made it to where she was headed all along.

Music:

Grandma Z liked good music alright. Mr Z used to play the guitar. And she always liked to hear people play the piano. She made sure all three of her girls took lessons.

Movies:

Grandma Z never cared much for movies. She couldn't understand what they were saying.

Television:

Grandma Z never did have much use for the television. J Vernon McGee's "Thru the Bible" radio show was a favorite. And Mr Z listened to the Baltimore Orioles play baseball on the local station.

Books:

The Bible, Word Search books, Grace Livingston Hill romances, Heidi, Heidi Grows Up, My Daily Bread, Little Women.

Heroes:

Jesus, Mama and Papa, Mr Z, Mr Johnny, Miss Laura, Eloise, Linda, Allen, Zelda, Rev Mr B, Pastor B, Pastor D, Dr S M Lockridge, J Vernon McGee, Cal Ripkin Sr and Jr, "Steady Eddie" Murray.
