god bless - jake

st song (Bees and Flowers): i wanted this song to sound like a bar-fight. nothing more - nothing less. maybe this is one of the most aggressive tunes i've ever written. slow mosh-parts meet crazy chaos-sounds. that's just the way we all like it, isn't it!? i've decided to put this song online as an antithesis to my current band final breakup. we tend to play the poppiest songs one can ever play with a semi-distorted guitar. so this is the other side of me. i really like the way the first slowed down mosh-part is introduced. never heard a band play like that - why? it sounds big. do it boys, do it! oh, and mind the last breakdown after you've thought the song is over - haha!
nd song (rock out with your cock out): holy crap! "rock out with your cock out" is the most cocky rocksong i've uploaded so far. it has a nice sleazy feel in the verse and, you know it, an epic chorus. no mosh part in there. please mind the iron maiden-like guitar/bass/drum style in the pre-chorus section. i love it! i only used my superstrat (at the moment my favourite weapon of choice). the bass sound is pretty dark in the "solo" parts. maybe a bit to dark, but i won't change it - it's just bass. listen close to the second half of the chorus, you can hear that the bass drum plays a lot less than in the first half. thats how you fuckers like it, isn't it? something else to mention? no! oh, but: mind the twin-guitars in the end.
rd song (st. r.i.p. tease): dude, this is heavy shit. i recorded "st. r.i.p. tease" at night with headphones. i like the chaotic feel of it and the key-change after the half-time part. i changed from c-minor to d-minor and back again. i used some vocal samples, don't know why. do you care? i played the kramer flying v and my superstrat. drumwise i used "addictive drums" for the first time. sounds way more natural than the others. and to answer a lot of questions: yes i click every single hit on the drums by mouse, i don't use presets or samples or some shit like this. and it is fun to arrange own drumpatterns. by the way, i used two different bassdrum sounds, one natural and one mechanic. i think you can here it, if you listen close.
th song (lord of the chaps): this song is called "lord of the chaps" because of the power-metal-melodies (lord of the rings, you know) and my fascination about some trousers called "chaps". maybe i'll be the "lord of the chaps" some day... i recorded this song with my metal guitar (kramer randy rhoads flying v) and my yamaha superstrat. the bass should be a little louder, but who cares what the bass does? i'd love to record some power-metal-vocals a la blind guardian to that song. some lyrics with dragons, knights and maidens... as you can hear i splitted the solo parts. i didn't want to record the lead guitar in one take so i parted it. the mix isn't quite good, so you can hear the cut-sequenzes if you listen close. dude i can tell you: heavy metal is so much fun!
th song (metal to the max): i wanted to record some trashy metal tunes with a nice slow chorus, without being toooo cheesy. this one is recorded with my yamaha superstrat (bridge humbucker) in drop-d tuning. i like the way the chorus is introduced by the (slightly detuned...) twin guitars. i haven't recorded vocals yet, cause i don't have a mic, but i'll do so soon.
th song (falling down a.k.a. d-fens): this was one of the songs i wrote for "a second pursuit". we never recorded it as a band. the song is recorded with my les paul (seymour duncan jeff beck humbucker in the bridge position). i played the intro solo with my superstrat, because i needed the vibrato (wilkinson). as you can hear it is inspired by 80s hairspray-metal-bands. the chorus melody is played with my epiphone sg (seymour duncan jeff beck, too), so the sound isn't as thick as it would have been with a les paul. i like the chorus' double bass part. with vocals it's the same as in song no. 3: no mic - no vocals.
