TURN UP THE GROOVE

About Me

Through a very colorful start during their high school days back in 1998 up to the present day, The Happymeals have earned their reputation as one of the most anticipated funk / rock bands to come out in the open in Metro Manila. The band independently released a self-titled EP, has appeared in over two hundred shows, put out a single in NU107 FM, had a number one download slot in an online Filipino mp3 community, earned a steadily growing mailinglist, an online discussion thread and has won and placed in a lot of local band contests all over Metro Manila.
The Happymeals play mighty sounding happy rock songs influenced by the style of blues and funk. How well they play together (and how much fun are they to watch) is demonstrated by their endless excitement in playing gigs and amount of feedback they receive from the people who have come to their shows and bands whom they have played with over the years.
The band has gone around playing in Metro Manila moderately with a variety of local groups. The Happymeals have shared stages with notable acts such as Chicosci, Dicta License, Kjwan, COG, Razorback, Rivermaya, Kamikazee, Slapshock, Greyhoundz, Sandwich and Cheese among others. Playing a moderately busy schedule of clubs, the band has managed to get in front of roughly 20,000 people from their first to their most recent gig.
The Happymeals are presently finishing a full-length album due out late this 2005. They are performing steadily in Metro Manila and will be planning for their upcoming album launch soon

Band Members: ODIN FERNANDEZ - Armed with a lot of band experience since his elementary days. Odin is the distinct voice behind every happymeals song. his vocal technique is reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis' mixed with a rocking grunge influence.

JOREL CORPUS - Aside from being a very proficient guitar player. Jorel is a solid workforce behind the band. He makes sure that everyone plays well during a gig or lays in perfectly during recording And most importantly He handles most of the band's bookings, management and internal issues. His playing style is reminiscent of 311's Tim Mahoney and Red Hot Chili Pepper's John Frusciante. He also does guitar duties for Kjwan.

NINO AVENIDO - Idolized by fans and peers alike for his amazing skill Nino plays gigs even if his hand crippled by a serious fracture. This multi-tasker never fails to impress the happymeals listeners with his rabid slapping and smooth riffs that carry the whole sound of the band easily. His bass playing is very much influenced by his idol Jaco Pastorius and Primus' Les Claypool. He also plays for Greyhoundz.

TED CRUZ - Ted is a cool and calm player, he keeps everyone in check by remaining steady all through out the gig which says a lot about how disciplined this guy is with his playing. But do not mistake him for a mediocre one because this suave guy can suddenly burst into a monster fill when needed. His beats are very much influenced by his love for Roy Ayers, Jamiroquai and Stevie Wonder.
