In the past few years we have had the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lethal B, Estelle, Sway, all surface from our UK Hip-Hop scene and 2008 is no exception.This year that exceptional artist is set to be the phenomenal JP. This inspirational 20year old literally grabs the UK Hip-Hop scene by the scruff of the neck and customises it with his own personal touch of rhythmic poetry. JPs Debut single, Diary of a Broken Man is due to be released late March 2008 and promises to smash the boundaries of UK Hip-Hop as we know it.The single is a very bold debut statement from a young JP, as he looks back at his life as a young black male from a broken home. In his own words he said ‘My reason for writing Diary of a Broken Man was strictly because I found that many working class boys who come from a single parent family are labelled as failures by many critics. Through my music, personal life and achievements I hope to prove that this is not always the case.’With his fantastic word play and stunning ability to combine his sound with any genre you would be forgiven for assuming that this incredible new artist comes from a US stable of highly talented Hip-Hop sensations. However that is not the case, born and raised in London, with Caribbean roots, JP is an exceptional UK gem that is sure to command the attention of his US counterparts.He first discovered his talent at the age 18 whilst at a friends house ‘A friend of mine put an instrumental on his computer and I wrote my first lyrics. They were really poor but it never stopped me from pursuing my dream to become a great rapper.’JP is currently putting the finishing touches to his extraordinary debut album. The album presents a unique cocktail of genres that is sure to rewrite all the rule books. JPs passion for music has exposed him to different styles and has allowed him to draw influences from all genres. This has given him a magnificent ability to adapt his style to any given beat. The album is due to takes the listener on a synthesis of moods, emotions and sounds.Impressed? You should be. With his debut single and album due this year JP is preparing to change the game and show the UK scene how it’s suppose to be done.
