For more information & more pets, please visit us at www.sararescue.petfinder.com S.A.R.A., Inc. is a animal rescue and placement organization.
We are a 501c(3) organization, so your donations are tax deductible.
We are comprised of devoted volunteers, some with over thirty years of experience.
We have a Board of Trustees and Officers who have hands-on knowledge of how to run an effective and efficient animal rescue organization.
We are all actively involved and committed to helping as many cats and dogs as we can!
Our focus is cats and kittens.
S.A.R.A.'s priority is to get as many rescued animals placed in good and caring homes.
One of our main objectives is population control so we also manage feral colonies with a spay/neuter program.
PLEASE HELP US HELP LUCKY!
Please meet Lucky, this precious boy came into our rescue when he was 3 weeks old in October 2007. Abandoned by his mother due to a severe illness this boy didn’t look like he’d make it to the next day. Luckily Wendy (who created our MySpace page) and her daughter Hayley found him and knew exactly where to bring him. Off to S.A.R.A. Inc . and Betty B they ran. On the way, Hayley decided to call him Lucky due to the fact that he was Lucky to be alive.
Lucky was in such poor shape, his eyes were swollen shut and his poor peepee was so swollen it could not go back inside his body. It took me and one other S.A.R.A. worker nearly 2 hours to work on his eyes in order to see any sign of his beautiful blue pupils. He was so filled with puss. Immediately he was put on antibiotics and within a week his swelling went down and he was able to regain normal function of his little penis.
Sadly, Lucky was still left with a horrible skin condition that would not go away. At first we all thought it was ringworm or parasite dirt He was taken to numerous vets for opinion after opinion because nothing worked. But after a couple of months of testing, medicated baths & medications nothing worked. We found his skin to be some sort of rare disorder. Nothing contagious so he was finally allowed out of his crate to play with his foster siblings. At first none of them would go near him due to the sweat that pours off his body, it has a smell that none of them wanted to go near. But we finally found a bath to keep this down. The other animals accept him now. Ruling out allergies (he has no itching, no discomfort or any sign of allergies) the next step was a skin biopsy which has been done. .
All the while, Lucky has always been and remains to be the happiest, most adorable and fun loving kitten. He is super sweet and affectionate. None of this has ever bothered him in the least. He makes friends everywhere he goes. Not a single vet staff member passes him by; everyone knows and stops to visit Lucky. When people come to visit our home, he is the first they look for and when people call, the first they ask about. It’s not hard to find Lucky; his flaky skin leaves a trail no matter where he goes or lays his precious head. He has crumbles of skin on his ears and nose which fall off now and again. Sadly sometimes to the point of scabbing. But again, this happy little boy shows no sign of stopping, he is very full of life.
Lucky remains in the care of Fanwood Animal Hospital in Fanwood NJ. They are consulting with the Dermotologist at Garden State Vet Clinic in Tinton Falls. Together they have made Lucky a priority and are dedicated to helping S.A.R.A. find a solution to help this boy live a comfortable happy life. His skin biopsy results are back as of Friday Feb. 8, 2008 and finally we have hope for a possible cure! We are just waiting for the instructions from the vets. S.A.R.A. Inc. will keep everyone updated as we are informed. As of today, March 31 we still have no conclusive results. Lucky is back on more meds and his yeast count was too high to get proper results from the first biopsy. He will need another. Our poor little man will have to go through this again. However he shows NO SIGNS of pain or discomfort. But is starting to show some improvement with weekly medicated baths and the meds. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
To date however, his bills are over $2000.00 and we are hoping to find some good hearted souls out there to help us with the costs of helping Lucky.
If you or anyone you know would like to help him, you can do so by either donating to our PayPal account directly or by our Chipin which logs in the amounts for Lucky. If you use Chipin, please note * that after clicking on the ChipIn! button on the widget you will need to copy and paste the URL into your browser.
S.A.R.A. Inc. & Lucky can’t thank you enough for your support!

LUCKY THANKS YOU!

Foster Homes:
Being a foster home participant for our cats and/or kittens is a fantastic experience. Foster homes are always needed for both long and short term periods, depending on the needs of the animal, in grooming them into adoptable, loving pets.
Be an Angel:
We desperately seek people with big hearts willing to take in a blood positive (feline aids) cat or kitten. Many of these animals live long, healthy lives. Please note, FIV cannot be transmitted to humans.
