Hi, my name is Greg aka selecta Sweetback from BLAZE IT SOUND.
I start to play music with my sound in 96. I was attracted at that time by the works of artists like Buju, Sizzla, Luciano and Capleton.
I play mainly in North of France and sometimes in Belgium.
Now, I play mainly dancehall, nu-roots and all kind of remixes. I like to include digital reggae, foundation stuff, lover's music or even some sweet soca in my mix.
In my past parties, I play with local artists, some major French artists and some JA artists too.
My favorite places to go are the "Reggae areas" : London, NY and specially the mad Caribbean islands.
Nuff people wonder where my selecta name comes from. Just check the video trailer below and you will understand how bad is Sweetback !
I choose this name as a tribute to the artists who make my favorite music : in the past, nuff Jamaican artists take the name of a movie hero or a movie star. In the same way, I decide to take the name of the 1st black movie hero : the big and bad Sweetback. Like Reggae music, the movie Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song is ruff: it was the 1st movie made by black people in USA and was X rated by an all white jury in 1971 because of his rebel content.
