Yo! Soy! El Que Hacia Falta!

About Me

The Puerto Rican Microphone Controller (P.R.M.C.) Born on October 22, 1986 in Rio Piedras, PR is said to be “One of the most innovative up and coming reggaeton artists of this generation”. Victor and Rosa Collazos’ youngest of three, Omar Collazo began his fascination for music at age seven. “I would always beat box for freestyle battles when I was younger” he asserted. However, due to his fathers’ constant involvement in music being a bass player for a Latin band and a DJ for multiple Latin Clubs; Music has always been a huge part of Omar’s life. Growing up, Omar always looked up to his older brother Benny, whom has influenced him tremendously and pushed him to pursue his passion. P.R.M.C. is currently working on his first debut album “Llego El Que Hacia Falta” (Translation: The one that was missing has arrived). The microphone controller composes his own lyrics, records his own vocals, makes several of the beats used in his tracks and masters his own music in his self-built studio. To promote his current project, P.R.M.C. takes it upon himself to perform at numerous venues. He has performed several times at the open mic at Club 301 (2004) and the Coffee Scene (2007). During the “Team Underdog Car Show” P.R.M.C. introduced locals to the sounds of Reggaeton (2005). The most popular Latin night club in Fayetteville, N.C. “Congos Latin Club” has become the home of his fan base with his frequent appearances on stage and his songs continuously played every Latin night. One of his biggest accomplishments up to date is his opening show for main stream reggaeton artists, Rakim y Ken-Y at club Baby O in Winston-Salem, N.C. (2007). He also supports his Latin American Student Organization at Fayetteville State University by performing and assisting with fundraising functions. The FSU radio station, 91.9 FM conducted an on air interview with the artist. His music currently plays every Sunday on 104.5 FM from 3-7 p.m. during the Latin segment of the radio station. P.R.M.C.’s music career really flourished in high school where he joined two of his friends in creating Moneys Worth Entertainment. They began doing music as a hobby but later it became an obsession…a necessity. Nonetheless, the hip-hop group parted ways and Omar pursued his solo career as a reggaeton artist. For those who are not familiar with the fastest growing genre of Latin music, Reggaeton became popular in the early 90’s. It is a blend of reggae, dancehall, bomba, plena, hip-hop, and Spanish rap. According to the artist “Reggaeton was born in Panama but raised in Puerto Rico”. Some of Omar’s musical motivations include artists who “began their career in Puerto Rico and expanded worldwide” such as Daddy Yankee, Hector El Father, Don Omar, and Wisin y Yandel. He is also fond of pioneers of the genre like Vico-C, Playero, and Ruben DJ along with many other founders. P.R.M.C.’s biggest inspiration is his “love that I have for music and the people that support me like my sister Rosaly, life-long friend Luis, and close friends that always come to my shows”. With P.R.M.C.’s dedication, determination, and talents he is sure to become one of the future faces of the industry. Written by: Johanny Mateo
