I was born in Saint Germain en Laye (Paris suburbs) in 1977. When I first saw Disney’s The black cauldron, or maybe earlier but I can’t really remember… I started to draw a lot of young people with green tights and punky hair. In the meantime, i was fond of illustrations in my books for children.
Severals years later, I rediscovered manga, and was amazed by the richness and diversity of it, with particular affection for Masakazu Katsura, Masamune Shirow, Yukito Kishiro, Hayao Myasaki…
Later, I graduated from Paris faculty of Arts « La Sorbonne ».
He would’ve probably never figuered it out, but I started to draw little characters after seeing the drawing by John Strohm on « Innocence and experience » Blake Babies record. It’s the innocence, the simplicity and humour of this drawing that pushed me to bring this little characters on paper.
For some time, I left drawing on the side and started a pop-rock band called Starry-O in 2002 or something. But my love for movies and music brought me to draw again, I started with singers and actresses like Bjork, Scarlett Johansson, but my friends also, Julie Peel, Michael Van London, Starry-O...
Many people influenced me, among them, obvious ones like Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes), Patrick McDonnell (Earl & Mooch), Daniel Clowes, Graig Thompson, Larcenet , Trondheim, Loisel but also David Lynch, Sofia and Francis Ford Copolla, Tim Burton…
The Blend of all those artists and my taste for self mockery, irony, simplicity, innocence and impishness nourrish my imagination.
