It has a message that I think is vitally important. Remember, you CAN make a difference!..Many times we have the tendency to get so bogged down in our own problems that we lose sight of the fact that we really are blessed. Most of us never really know what it's like to go hungry for days on end or to not have a roof over our heads. Unfortunately for millions of people worldwide, hunger and homelessness are the rule and not the exception. Let's all do what we can so that no one has to live that way. Always remember: be thankful for what you have.Uganda Film: Sam & Esther Scene

A go-getter like you knows the world’s problems aren’t about to fix themselves. And if no one takes the lead, how can any real change happen?
Courageous and hard-working, you have a talent few others share. No doubt, when you enter anything from a party to a classroom to a boardroom, the spotlight turns your way. And with your ability to motivate and inspire, why shouldn’t it?
Could the history books potentially read Gandhi, Mandela and you? It’s possible. When it comes to combating world hunger and poverty, you’re just the sort who can affect change. Whether you enlist your friends to help build housing for the poor, or organize an anti-hunger rally on a college campus, a leader like you has the special knack to make things happen.
Find out how you will change the world.

Enjoy! We'll get started off with the late, great Jaco Pastorius.Next comes the true treasure of Orlando; Sam Rivers. Here we see him with his Rivbea Orchestra. It's amazing to watch a master at work crafting such incredible music!Sam Rivers

So, just for you, here's his take on My Favorite Things. Now from the Rockit man himself, Herbie Hancock kicks some royal bootie along with Jack DeJohnette and Christian McBride. It doesn't get much better at all than this, folks. Expect magic.Next up, here is the BADDEST bassist ever; Mr. Ray Brown featuring on sax, Michael Brecker, on guitar, the amazing Ulf Wakenius, also Niels Lan Doky on piano and Terri Lyne Carrington on drums. Great stuff!Joshua Redman's Elastic Band is seen (and heard) here cutting their own original path through the jazz tradition. Their music kicks!Charles Lloyd and Billy Higgins. These gentlemen made some beautiful music together. Here's a rare chance to see and hear some of that magic being created. Here's the guy that helped make clarinetists cool again: Don Byron.ivey divey video

Add to My Profile | More VideosMy favorite, singer-songwriter what-have-ya artists, Jack Johnson has a new album and it major league KICKS! Yeah, it's not jazz, but then again, I don't care! Here is the new single from the album Sleep Through The Static and it's called "If I Had Eyes".
Movies:
Again, a little bit of everything; drama, action, romantic comedies, you know, the usual. I am a BIG fan of independent and foreign films. Thank goodness, we are lucky here in Orlando to have at least one art house theater. If you're in the Orlando area, check out the Enzian Theater. You'll love it! www.enzian.org/
I'm also ashamed to admit it, but yes, I can NOT pass up the chance to watch an old 70's or early 80's Shaw Brothers kung fu film (subbed NOT dubbed, please)! Now in honor of TOTAL geekdom, I must say that I am anxiously waiting for the new film Forbidden Kingdom which stars both Jackie Chan AND Jet Li! What else need be said? Now, from my absolute FAVORITE movie of all time; here's the great Dexter Gordon giving a whole new definition to beauty from the movie Round Midnight.
Now here's a quick montage from a movie that, if you haven't seen it, you probably should. It gives a whole new meaning to holistic health. :) Patch Adams.
Television:
Don't really watch it except the occasional discovery channel, food network, travel channel thing. The Sundance channel stays on a fair bit. I'll watch if the Red Sox are playing. Not much else. I do keep up with the lunacy on CNN, though.
My one guilty pleasure on TV is watching old reruns of the Kung Fu series from back in the early '70s. I still catch a bit of that same excitement that I used to get as a kid watching Kwai Chang Caine and Master Po each week and then beating the heck out of my parents couch as I tried to copy the moves. (Now I beat up my own couch. LOL!) TOO much fun!
Sitcoms are a different story. Most ones these days are just plain stupid in my opinion. The one that I really love has, thankfully, finally been released on DVD. Well, the first season at least. I was working in radio at the time WKRP in Cincinnati was airing. I think what is so hilarious about it to me is that it is SO true! That is one business where real life was even more bizarre than the show. For those of you who were too young to see it the first time or for those who want to stroll down memory lane; here with the news is the winner of the Buck-eye News Hawk Award, Les Nessman!Okay, so now everybody needs to eat, right? Well, unless you keep Papa John's Pizza on perpetual speed dial, somewhere along the line you're actually going to have to learn how to cook at least a few things. Personally, I love to do it. Both my mother and father had their own specialties while I was growing up and I tried to soak up as much knowledge as I could along the way. So, besides reading all sorts of cookbooks these days, I also make sure that the ol' TEVO records all of my favorite Food Network programs. One of my favorites is Jamie Oliver's Jamie at Home show. Good, solid recipes and a lot of inspiration to just get creative about your cooking. Here's a quick peak at the show. Don't mind the Chinese subtitles. It's the only version that I could find on YouTube. Cheers!
Books:
As in most things, as I said above, my reading tastes are PRETTY diversified. Fiction, bios, philosophy, religion, history and anything else that I can manage to get my hands on. My favorite book of all time would probably be Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. In my opinion, the most perfect example of storytelling to came out of the 20th century. I'm a big fan of espionage thrillers and crime fiction as well. Writers like Robert Ludlum, David Morrell, Eric Lustbader, Barry Eisler and Andrew Vachss come to mind. Lately I've been digging back into some of the old classics as well. Some I've read several times over the years like Moby Dick and To Kill A Mockingbird, along with some that I've never gotten around to before like Don Quixote. I constantly keep close to half a dozen books going at any time so there are always a few stacks around my chair.
Heroes:
Hands down, no question about it: Mother Teresa. Take a look at her and then at the version of what most people think of as a "successful life". Any questions?
