Jamie began entering local singing contests at age 14, including the CNE's Rising Star Competition, in Toronto, in which she finished every year in the top 10. These contests helped her to develop a very solid and comfortable stage presence. In 2000, Jamie entered the Cradle to Rave contest at a local club and came in first, scoring a one-song recording and radio play on KX96. She received critical acclaim for her song “Youth is Wasted on the Young†which was played on KX96 for several months. In March of 2004, Jamie entered Q107's Ultimate Jam and once again claimed first prize with her rendition of AC/DC's “Highway to Hellâ€. She was the only winner of the contest to be asked to sit on the judge panel for the continuing rounds until the contest closed in June 2005. In February 2006 she placed third in the Mix 99.9 Canadian Radio Star Songwriting Competition out of over thousands of entries and most recently, Jamie was 1 of 50 people worldwide, chosen out of over 25,000, to audition in L.A. for Rockstar: Supernova.
Jamie began performing steadily in 1999 when she and local musician Joyce Squires hosted a weekly Open Mic Night in Oshawa. Since 2000, Jamie has been playing in local bars around the GTA with veteran musicians such as Robin Boers, the original drummer from the Ugly Ducklings. This allows her to perform live as often as possible and to sing the music she has always loved the most.
In April 2004, Jamie began working with producer Murray Daigle of MDS Recordings, Toronto. Her first full-length album, “Great Expectationsâ€, was released in September 2005. Jamie co-wrote the ten songs on the album including "Somthing Has to Give", which finished third out of thousands of entries in the 2006 Mix 99.9 Candian Radio Star songwriting competition, and the single “Compromiseâ€, which was released to terrestrial radio in January 2006 and has been playing on Sirius Satellite Radio since December 2005. “Great Expectations†is available (in limited quantity) through www.bullseyecanada.com and at live performances.
"Iceberg Radio, (SIRIUS Satellite Radio's Channel 95), has been playing Jamie since our launch on December 2nd. She has a great rock voice in the tradition of Darby Mills and Holly Woods. The songs we're playing are equally of a high quality. Kudos to terrestrial radio for noticing a local Canadian talent..."
