About Me

Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own! Grey Atlas is a northern California based project spiraling from the capitol city with an undying appetite for the music industry. This 4 member alternative project is comprised of guitar (Kc Alexander), bass (Ryan Henderson), drums (Gabe Silva), vocals and keys (Brian Rodgers).Brian has been a local underground staple in Northern California Music scene for the past 15 years, starting out in Bands such as Common Knowledge and Raising Cain. In the mid 90’s, he was recruited to become the Lead Vocalist and Co-Songwriter for the Alternative Rock Band “ Above “. Upon his return to Nor Cal, he co-founded the metal group Absent Me with Curtis Harvey. After 8 years with Absent Me and a Sammy Nod, the members parted ways and He was approached by the current members of Grey Atlas. “It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made.” Said Brian Who claims hew only needed to hear the members play once before he knew he wanted to join up. “It’s nice to be in a band where the talent overflows and there’s no ego. From what I hear they looked for a long time for the right singer. I feel fortunate they’ve chosen me.” Very little is known personally about Brian, who they’ve dubbed “Priest” (called such because of his spiritual background and beliefs). He prefers to keep quiet about his personal life. “Just listen to the music and it’s tell you all you need to know” Brian says with a slight grin. The drummer / machine gun, Gabe Silva, more commonly known as freedom fiend, was cast into his musical journey as a young boy when his brother came home from school with a trumpet. “I was instantly fascinated” said Silva, “I would read and learn all of his books when he wasn’t home” The young Gabe would soon realize he comes from a long line of mariachi band family members. Eventually growing into somewhat of a child prodigy, he sat at the “front seat” in all of his music classes, also playing sax at ballroom jazz performances by 6th grade. One day Gabes uncle let him play the drums… he was addicted. “I played every chance I got. Every drum kit I had seen I would hop on and bust out”. He learned all the music he could and would play it as fast as he could. It’s to no surprise, the freedom fiend developed into a young drum phenomenon. With precision aim and mind boggling speed, he captivated crowds with his talents playing with bands like “Stick Figure” and “Solow”. The force displayed by this machine like powerhouse, is one not to be reckoned with. Keep an eye out in the drum magazines for this one.The bassist Ryan is a Nevada native that migrated to California at a child. With no musical background and a fairly poor family, instruments were pretty much non-existent until about age 17, when his friends mom gave Ryan an acoustic guitar. Listening to things like: Pantera, Sepultura and Deftones, soon molded an inspired young musician. With a few years under his belt on guitar, he then picked up a bass. “This was my home”, as he smiles, “I think I spent everyday, nonstop, for about 9 months straight on that thing”. “I ate slept and pooped bass”. Ryan adds, and it seemed that the result was some pretty unique bass skills. After testing the water with a few garage bands, he then approached the local music scene performing at various venues around California with bands like “Noh” and “Solow”. Ryan claims He gained most of road experience with these and a few other unnamed projects. Learning entire set lists in a matter of hours, playing 3 to 4 shows a week and a demand for stage presents are all visible attributes when performing. Nicknamed “Cabin Tom” because He…uh… likes cabins? You got to keep an eye on him, he’s a little weird.Last but not least is Kc. He is definitely cooler than the rest of the band and way better looking. Kc doesn’t have any aliases because he doesn’t need one and if you call him anything else, he will spin kick you in the throat like Chuck Norris. All joking aside, he’s a hell of a guy and an excellent musician. Also brought into the music scene as a youngster. His talents spawned from his father who also played guitar. Bringing the young Kc to his live performances, Kc sat amused and content. At age 12 he picked up a guitar. Inspired by greates like “Randy Rhoads” and “Dimebag Darrell”, he soon started writing his own music. Kc formed his first band “Dominant Rage in high school and was headlining most over 21 venues to sold out crowds by age 17 and becoming a well known musician to the locals.Coincidently, Ryan, Kc and Gabe took a break from the show scene for a couple of years to have some fun with life. But it was only a matter of time before that tonal itch started to re-surface and when it did, it surfaced a colossal pyramid of emotion gripping vocals, soul penetrating riffs and a rhythmic ambiance that will rattle the very heart that pumps your blood. According to the band, in October of 06’, they started working together to develop a sound. Then started their half year, million singer search which ended at singer, songwriter and pianist “Brian Rodgers”. Well worth the wait and a definite positive addition to the band.“Evolving from a variety of previous experiences, We’ve widdled Grey Atlas into a finely tuned but quite simple machine. Our attitude in and around our musical atmosphere is kept in a positive, free flowing direction. We all express our opinions freely and the decisions take their proper course. Our music is derived from a constantly changing world that habitats 6 billion constantly changing minds. We reside in a Grey Atlas, where there is no longer a black and white solution to anything, anything effects everything and Grey Atlas will effect everything. We live in a world where evolution, science, philosophy, and others are constantly reshaping our reality, our self, the world, our existence, origin, morality, spirituality, technology, government, media, environment, freedom, biology, war, sociology, cosmic, energy, supernatural, extraterrestrial, religious, monetary, past, present, and future, balance, and many other things that all come together here! A cognitive medium-----------A GREY ATLAS.
