..FROM SHELTER TO BELTER
Once upon a time not so long a go, a four piece band from Basildon made waves within the local music scene with their new take on rock indie, a kinda fusion of backgrounds between the then singer Joe and guitarist Darren. This band steam rolled its way through 4 years until grinding to an abrupt halt late last year due to the shock departure of its front man and third brother and friend. The three remaining members umm'd & arrr'd about whether to continue and in which direction they should go. Until as if by fate Mark stumbled across an amazing vocal talent whilst judging a local talent night. They all agreed to pursue this and a rehearsal was arranged, a kind of audition/experiment to see if three guys could gel with one girl in the same way they had before. Needless to say it was a resounding YES on all fronts and the new group was formed including new material and a new direction, an exciting direction which has turned a once faltering SHELTER into an amazing vocal driven BELTER.
‘70 Pence More‘ has given the music of ‘Anderson Shelter’ that long needed feminine touch and produced some excellent material off its own back and is now ready to spring itself on to the live scene.
If you like what you hear tell a friend, tell a neighbour, tell a stranger if you feel the need!! Please just remember to spread the word, and watch this space for further developments, updates and gig dates.
Lastly for the returning fans of Anderson Shelter, do not mourn the end, but rejoice for a new beginning! You will not be disappointed, in fact I think with hand on heart ‘70 Pence More’ is where the shelter always wanted to be, and where it deserves to be.
Laura, Darren, Mark and Paul thank you for your time and continued support. We look forward to seeing you guys again, and indeed meeting new faces on the road to glory...
