Lets Get Rowdy!!
The 'band' first began in October 2005 when Leigh moved to Preston and met Will when working in a pub. They discovered that they shared similar music taste, with blues being a major passion, and started jamming acoustic stuff and writing songs for almost a year. They decided that it was time to form a full line-up, and rehearsed with various local musicians and singers to no avail. It wasn't until October 2006 that, by chance, Leigh met Mark in a club one night, who was a drummer looking for a new band. Soon after, Weston was recruited on bass and the first jam sessions took place.Will and Leigh's rock and blues influences gelled well with Weston and Mark's funky styles, and the half-written songs from the original acoustic sessions suddenly came to life. The only thing missing was a vocalist. The idea came about to have a female singer, and although contact was made with a few interested people, rehearsals never happened. Weston suggested his music student housemate Amie, who soon wrote lyrics to complete the songs, and after a few name changes, Rafferty's Rules was born!The band played their debut gig at the Dog and Partridge pub in Preston, fittingly where Will and Leigh first worked together and held their jam sessions. More songwriting and gigging experience followed, and a demo CD was recorded in spring 2007. getting the band airplay on regional radio. Since then, Rafferty's Rules have been gigging further afield and have developed a dedicated following, with the highlight being their first gig at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool.Plans are currently being made for album recording sessions and a possible tour, so watch this space... and let's get rowdy!
