Band Members: .................A Young Black London.................. A gunshot is all it takes, For a million hearts to break. The loss of a valued loved one, But yet the war is still not done. Recurring retaliation continues to take place, But still youths fail to see the damage to their race. The story does not end their though, more is to be told about the young vulnerable mother who is only 15 years old. You ask for the father, she may not know As he left the relationship about a year ago. Who is to blame for society not being whole?, Or the fact that education and accomplishment is not a child’s goal. Love, education, God and success, Are the values to which a young mind should best. But influences from media to which they take note, “A little bit of money in the pocket and then we can gloat†Well I tell you my friend you have some work to do, As Martin Luther King has laid the foundations for you. Your freedom from poverty is but a ticket away, Go to school and listen to what your teachers say. Sing, dance, write, and embrace your gifts, But in no way exist as a race in which there are rifts. Your history hasn’t exactly been one of glory, But at least you can tell your kids the story, Of how a young troubled black London united as one, and helped to undo the damage that had been done.
