About Me

BE THE CURE - March 20th 2008 is a Canadian Anti War group.
First, We would like to say that we are not ANTI SOLDIER, We are pro military, and very much pro soldier. We are Aware and appreciate all the great things our military has done for us and other countries around the world. We are immensely proud of the Peacekeeping/aid and rebuilding you guys have done for the people of this big floating rock.
However, we do not believe in THIS WAR and the reason why the Americans started it. We should not be involved. PERIOD.
If any soldier is upset by our cause we sincerely apologize, and would appreciate hearing from you, but we truly believe that what we are doing is for the good of the Canadian people and you (even if you don't see that now).
The Goal of the group is to create a following over the next 10 months though demonstrations, rallies, marches, advertising and community events etc. This group will then participate in week long protests in Toronto and Ottawa against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The week long protest will take place on the week of March 20th, 2008 - This is the date chosen because this will unfortunately be the 5 year anniversary of the war in Iraq.
We hope to make a difference by being the voice of the Canadian Citizens, who by a large margin are against our troops being in combat and the war in general.
The main focus of the group is to get our troops out of the Middle East - We are opposed to the war Period. However, we think it would be more logical to concentrate on the Canadian troops and being the ones who get them out/home.
A plan is in the final stages as to how we will attract the media attention etc. necessary over the coming months to build a movement of 50-100 thousand strong.
A website and merchandise are currently being developed. We will be taking donations through the site and in person whenever we appear at a benefit, concert etc.
The site will have the following: The main goals, the plans for any event, an open discussion board for anyone wanting to get involved to express their ideas for the movement, a place to make donations etc.
We strongly believe that something has to be done. Our men and women (with an average age of only 19) are dying every day/week for an unjust cause. Canada is a peacekeeping country and we are now directly involved in the combat and murder of Iraqi/Afghani citizens.
Our troops need to come out and we have to take a stance. On a global scale we are seen as a nation of believers in peace, but if we stay in this war we will lose that title.
Most everyday citizens think they cannot make a change like this happen. They think they are only one person and that the challenge is too great - THIS IS UNTRUE- Everyone has it in them to make a change. Every single great leader was just a normal citizen before they decided to stand up and fight for a cause. Martin Luther King jr., Mahatma Gandhi and others had regular jobs and were regular people before they fought the long fight for a noble cause.
You can be that change! Believe in yourself and the power of a movement with the same goals!
Please help us be the change that which is necessary - Please get involved - Don't let the opportunity to be part a great movement pass you by - Be the change you want to see!

Television:

These videos NEED to be seen, they are 3-4 years old and are about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. All total they are 50 minutes.

They concern the British and American armies, but everything happening in Afghanistan concerns NATO and Coalition forces (which the Canadian military is a part of).

Let us just ask you this? How would you feel if the coalition forces did what they are doing to you and your family? Imagine how angry you'd be. Imagine the vengeance you'd want...

Then imagine how that will be let out on Canada...
