My Interests

more than anything else though, i loves me some psychedelic trance...

I'd like to meet:

jon stewart, steven colbert, al gore, dennis kucinich, bill maher, stephen hawking, russ feingold, howard dean, his holiness the dalai lama, miki berenyi, jello biafra, genesis p-orridge, simon posford, raja ram, tsuyoshi suzuki, goa gil, your mom in spandex, barney/hooky/gillian/steve, ralf & florian, peter saville, alex grey, nelson mandela, noam chomsky, and of course... you!

Who I DON'T want to meet:
SPAMMERS! seriously folks, please don't try to add me if you are just trying to peddle your product.. that's just tacky. regardless of whether you're trying to push your adult webcam and photos, your part-time pyramid scheme, or your 'icy-hot stuntaz'-inspired cru, i'm just not that that into it and would prefer not to be a part of your death culture. thanks!

oh, and chris hansen.

that being said, it doesn't hurt to send me just a little message saying hello if you would like me to add you so that i know that you are indeed an actual person and not just some ambitious marketer... a little human interaction goes a long way! of course, there are those out there that have taken the human element out of myspace completely and send out hundreds of bulk add requests at a time by using one of the many 'add friends' bots out there... there is a special place in hell for you people, and i would love to tell you so person-to-to person. unfortunately though, there isn't a whole lot that you can do when you're trying to put a software-driven virtual wanker in their place when they don't really exist.

so ist das leben.. hart aber dafür gemein!

if you're in a band and are trying to get your name out, that's cool... all in all, quite a noble objective imho. i might not be totally into the kind of stuff you do, but odds are that i'll probably give you a listen (especially if you're at all influenced by the long litany of bands and artists to the left over there). at the same time though, some genres just don't really pique my interest that much...not really a big fan of hair metal, country, hip-hop (particularly the thugged-out stuff), jam bands or bluegrass, so if you don't get approved right away (or at all), it's probably just because i'm not feeling it the way that someone else might. no harm, no foul, just not my cup of (chai) tea.

as of late, i've been rediscovering late 70's eurodisco, as in the electronic stuff that the likes of giorgio moroder and cerrone were putting out at the time. the real gem from this era was cerrone's 'supernature' (which was covered by erasure in the late 80's and remixed more recently by danny tenaglia), which i found the video for.. the song is futuristic, the lyrics are propheticly relevant for 2007, and the (original) video is surreal.. you can watch the updated 90's version (with clips from the original 1978 video, featuring people wearing masks that look like they came out of some twisted greek tragedy) here:

i can listen to this one over and over again, and it never gets old to me..
