Etched Fantasies

I'd like to meet:

Let me immortalize you on glass!

Wearily I lay
My tired beaten body down
In an open barren field
Searching relentlessly towards
Vastly vacant silent skies.

I search the horizons
Of both east and west
Through a tired glary
Distant pair of eyes
For that long unforgotten
Non-existent paradise.

I see the remains
Of broken golden castles
That once were a dreamland
Built upon the clouds
Floating freely in my mind.

But the times in which
I dwelled within
This vast fantasy world
Have since slipped away
Like the years of my life
Which were never lived.

Yet the memories still linger
Of the Pegasus and unicorn,
All the magical wonders
And the peacefulness
Of this unreal world
In which so long ago I was born.

The sadness has ended
And the tears have all dried
From that painful struggle
To climb from fantasy
Into what is real.

But all my dreams
Shall forever freely live
Within my heart
Not forgetting the
Freedom and peace
Of my long lost dreamland.

The reddened rays
Of the brilliant setting sun
Casts the shadow of the breeze
Lightly over my face
As another day is ended
In what mankind simply calls reality.
