This 256 page book covers the entire Guns’ saga, from their inception in the mid 80s to their ongoing debacle as the band who hasn’t released a new album in almost 15 years. The book features numerous interviews with and revelations about band members past and present (including ex lead guitarist Slash and bass player Duff).
Most distinctly Stenning’s inimitable style makes the reader feel as if he is writing just for them, from one fan to another. There have been many criticisms of his style and his focus on the band but one thing is for sure, love him or hate him you have to admire Stenning’s all out, relentless quest for the truth. NO stone is left unturned as he examines the depression of Axl Rose and the drugs and alcohol use which plagued the band and dismantled the original Appetite For Destruction line-up.
There is also a chapter on the Chinese Democracy saga, covering absolutely everything that has so far been recorded, and spent in Axl’s quest for the perfect rock record. Additionally the book has been updated and revised to include a chapter on Velvet Revolver. There are also previously unseen photographs.
This is the only current book on the band and is approached with care and precision. AVAILABLE FOR £5.99 (plus postage of £2.49 worldwide)
PRAISE FOR THE BOOK:
“One of the more accurate books on the band†Slash
Amazon Reviewers:
“This is just a fantastic, deeply probing account of one of the most misunderstood bands of all time. It goes into such depth regarding Axl and the other members telling you stack loads of info you will not have seen anywhere else...I cannot recommend this enough, did not put it down for a week!â€
“The concert file which is included is a nice addition and is well presented.
The book contains a chapter on Velvet Revolver, which though brief is a good account of that band.â€
“This book makes for a fascinating read. I especially found the ongoing analysis of Axl's life interesting as it helped to give possible explanations as to why he is as he is and where he's coming from.
I would suggest this book is the thinking man's (and woman's!) biography of the band, and is well worth the money as part of a Guns n Roses collection.â€
