About Me

How exactly does one fit themselves into a nice neat little discriptive box? I haven't quite figured it out yet. I am the Mother of a 13 year old daughter, Casandra (a.k.a Zooks) and an almost 3 year old son, Isaiah (a.k.a Izzy). I quit my job a little over two years ago to stay at home and just be Mom for a while; since then I have struggled, and been unable to find balance in my life. I will be returning to school in May to finish up two semesters to complete my undergrad work in sociology. My hope is that eventually I will finish my post-grad work in Womens Studies. The current state of women in society and post-modern feminism truly fascinates me. All in all I'm a pretty average, simple person. I love spending time with friends and family, Jack Daniels, laughing, full moons, squishing my toes in the mud, walks on the beach, cuddling and good music. I am very politically driven and I thoroughly enjoy the company of someone who can make me think. Some days I desperately miss smoking; Diet Coke is my one true weakness and addiction left in life, okay well maybe that and coffee.

My Interests

Reading, writing, post-modern feminism, politics, religion, social justice issues, gender issues, social welfare issues, women's studies, photography, scrapbooking, my family, my friendsCURRENT MOON moon info

I'd like to meet:

The list is so long. . . . Bono - he's an amazing human being (well that and he's hot); Jesus - I want to know what he really said; Ghandi - I could use to learn that kind of patience; Barak Obama - it would be a great lunch conversation; Bill Maher - I've had a quirky thing for him for years, I swear it's got to be intellectual. People and more people - those who interest me, intrigue me, appall me and generally make me think.

Music:

Movies:

This is another list that could be huge, but if I had to pick an all time favorite, it would probably be What Dreams May Come. I mean really, it speaks to the true elements of life, who doesn't want to believe in a love so complete that someone is willing to search hell to find you, and that choosing to come back only means being allowed to find eachother all over again.Others would include: Shawshank Redemption, Farenheit 9/11, Breakfast at Tiffany's, A Patch of Blue, Message In A Bottle, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Rules of Engagement, Sliding Doors, A Few Good Men, Vanilla Sky, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Star Wars

Television:

Law and Order (any of them), CSI (Las Vegas), Cold Case, Without a Trace, The History Channel, A&E

Books:

Currently I'm reading Sex, Art, and American Culture by Camille Paglia; Appetites: Why Women Want by Caroline Knapp; Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women by Elizabeth Wurtzel and Celtic Traditions: Druids, Faeries, and Wiccan Rituals by Sirona Knight

Heroes:

My kids, who let me see the world through the pure simplicity of their eyes. My sisters, who are not only doing what they need to do for themselves, but let me use them as a reflective guage on life. My Mom. My angels - you know who you are.
