Oh God Forgive Me When I Whine
Today upon a bus I saw a lovely girl with golden hair.
I envied her - she seemed so gay - and wished I were as fair.
But suddenly she rose to leave.
I saw her hobble down the isle, she had only one leg
and wore a crutch, but as she passed, a smile…
Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two legs, the world is mine.
I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold them had such charm.
I stopped to talk to him, he seemed so glad -
if I was late could do no harm.
As I left he said to me, “I thank-you, you had been so
kind.
It’s nice to talk to folks like you,
you see,†he said, “I am blind.â€
Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two eyes, the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play, he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and said, “Why don’t you join the others, dear?â€
He looked ahead without a word and then I knew, he ouldn’t
hear.
Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I have two ears, the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I go,
with eyes to see the sun-set glow,
with ears to hear what I would know.
Oh, God forgive me when I whine,
I am blessed indeed, the world is mine!
Depeche Mode - Somebody
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when I'm asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I'll get away with it
