Hayao Miyazaki, Neal Stephenson, Dan Brown, Aaron Copland, many many others
If you want to find out what's happening in the country you live in, you need to listen to NPR. The best two local stations are 89.3 and 89.9. The TV news you turn on in the morning is entertainment, at best.Actual music: Pat Metheny, Gorgon Goodwin's Big Band, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Peter Gabriel, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Richard Cheese, Les Miserables, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, to name a few
Miyazaki Anime, Lord of the Rings (Read the damn books first), Sci-Fi Movies (First Matrix, Iron Giant, Aliens, Old Star Wars), Musicals (West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast), Terry Gilliam Movies (Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Old Monty Python), just about anything invovling Stephen Spielberg, Comedies like Clerks/JaynSilentBob...if it has a plot that keeps moving, or jokes that make me laugh, I'll enjoy it
Simpsons, Family Guy, Daily Show, Evening News
Stephen King's "Dark Tower" Series, JRR Tolkien, 'Great Unraveling' by Paul Krugman, Dan Simmons Sci-Fi, Dan Brown, Greg Bear, Neal Stephenson - especially 'Snow Crash', Enders Game, Michael Crichton, Zombie Survival Guide, Herbert's Dune Series, Shit...I'll even read the Harry Potter books. I've read Asimov, Bradbury, Doyle Brunson's 'Super System', and recently I've started picking up books that deal with politics: Robert Reich's "Reason" is well written, well researched and doesn't become abusive in the way that much of modern political discussion is.
