About Me

I have a "furry adopted child" who is a cocker spaniel named Wiggles (aka Wiggy)--his tail is always in motion so the shelter I rescued him from donned him with his name. When all is quiet and he's laying on the floor his tail can be seen swishing back and forth to the beat of my cuckoo clock pendulum. Quite appropriate don't you think? According to the shelter, someone must have got tired of him as he appears to have been "dumped" out into the woods of an unpopulated area. Although I never can understand people doing this, someone had taken the time to house train him, teach him some commands and even how to "shake". It caused the lil' fella some anxiety that he still carries to this day from time to time.I used to work in Hospital Administration at a major hospital. I was working to bridge the degree I was working on into a nursing one, but life took another change of course. I'm a stay at home person now. I enjoy doing charitable works and acts of kindness with my time and my talents. It's my way of giving "back" for the blessings and the life's lessons I have received as I've made my journey through life thus far.

My Interests

Hosted by RockinCodes.com I have varied interests. During the fall it is definitely football time around my house on Saturday it's Notre Dame Irish games and on Sunday it is the Cleveland Browns games. I have an interest in Ireland and things Irish related. One day I would like to travel to Ireland and pay a visit. I'm interested in the protection of animals and my local shelters. Two of my three cocker spaniels that I have and have had in my life have been rescued. I crochet and count cross stitch. I'm also getting ready to try my hand at quilting to add to the crafty side of me. I'm an avid reader, I seem to always have one book going and a couple waiting in the wings to be opened. I enjoy cooking, especially slow cooker cooking, and swapping recipes. So my interests are rather ecclectic.

I'd like to meet:

Let's see...I've met Romeo Crennel, coach of the Cleveland Browns, so he's off my list of people I'd like to meet. I haven't met Charlie Weis at Notre Dame, though...hmmm.I would like to meet Lou Holtz. I'd like to meet the people who make up Casting Crowns and Mark Schultz. I would love to be able to step back in time and meet Lucille Ball and some people I find influential in our history and in football from eras ago.But then there is this very special friend I met online 7 years ago, it's unbelieveable how close we became through emails--almost like sisters--and how much we have shared each other's lives, faith and faith experiences. I live on one end of the U.S. and she lives down on an opposite end. When I think of people I'd like to meet, I could go on and on about famous people but my special friend would be right there on that list of who I'd like to meet. I've seen her go from being a wife to a wife plus a mom of 2 great kids. A special family to me.

Music:

I'm mostly a contemporary Christian music fan...although living where the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is, I have to say that I do have an interest in some of the artists one may find inducted there and some that have yet to be inducted...Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Springsteen, Dylan, Judy Collins and classic 60's music, to name a few. Casting Crowns, Third Day, Mark Schultz, Nicole C. Mullen are at the top of my favorites Contemporary Christian list...to name a few.

Movies:

Rudy, A Few Good Men, With Honors, The Sixth Sense, Girl Interrupted, Dirty Dancing, Field of Dreams, Wizard of Oz, Joshua are a few of my favorite movies. I know I missing some great movies in my "favorites"!And then there are the classic films of yesteryear...give me an Ingrid Bergman, Greer Garson, Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant with a bowl of popcorn and I'm ready for movie night at home.

Television:

I'm also rather ecclecticin my tv watching. If one there isn't a show that I "must" see on, chances are I've got FOXNews on watching some of their prime time shows...especially so now that we are in election season.I watch some of the reality shows. The Amazing Race is my all time favorite. Others I like to watch are Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, Big Brother and Survivor to name a few.I lean toward dramas so shows like Jericho, Criminal Minds, Law & Order SVU and Law & Order Criminal Intent tend to have me tuning in on a regular basis. My favorite drama right now is Jericho. As for daytime I don't watch them every day, but I tend to catch a show often enough to know what's going on. GH has been my favorite, but AMC is starting get my interest again.I like the shows of classic tv era like "I Love Lucy", "Leave It To Beaver", "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "Hazel" and the list goes on....

Books:

I love all kinds of books...The Bible, fiction, non-fiction and especially Christian fiction works. The author/lawyer Robert Whitlow and his fiction "legal-beagle" books are at the very top of my favorites list. I can see he has a new book coming and not have to browse through it before buying and reading it. Some of my other favorite authors are Ridley Pearson, Brad Meltzer, Ted Dekker, Terri Blackstock, Michael Palmer,Robin Cook and Diane Mott Davidson to name a few.

Heroes:

Christ our Lord. All the men and women of the military who bravely and willingly give up their time and their lives to protect this country and who are in harm's way abroad...it is they who are truly heroic.People in everyday walks of life who make a positive difference in someone else's life...the medical staff, the care givers, the firefighters, the police, the teachers. The everyday person lending a helping hand to help their fellow neighbor during a tragic time and helping them to rise above the fallout of such times of personal tragedy as in 9/11, the hurricanes, the devasting tornadoes and military losing their loved ones abroad in combat to name a few instances.
