"Scotlands finest grind-caked pitbull metal band have finally done it and put out the full length debut their demos warned would someday devastate us. With ex-Medulla Nocte howler Paul Catten adding his distintive yelp to vocalising drummer Quzzy's raspy bark, Co-Exist roll their rabid death machine forward with before only-hinted-at force and confidence on this 40-odd minute monster of an underground metal album. Abrasive as paint stripper, the once three-piece powerhouse tag team effortlessly between gut-churning, neck-invigorating riff chugs and face battering blastbeats and snare assaults creating a concoction which reminds of Today is the Day, Brutal Truth and even a finer Fear Factory, yet restrains its own distinctive flavour. Never a band to mess around, Co-Exist slam their way through eighteen dynamically written cuts without once overstaying their welcome. As the hidden cover of Sabbaths 'A National Acrobat' finally brings things to a close in invigorating, inspiring style, the feeling of freedom is positively palpable. Unconstrained by trends and generic tendancies, these 'Glasgae Coonts' put grind, hard, metal and core together just how it suits them - which suits just fine when the result comes out as fresh, frisky and ferocious as 'Surgical...' . Surely not an album destined to be a long sought-after enigma, this is just the belated beginning."
