steven cochran, assuming the alias of medic for musical works, began experimenting with audio at the age of 16 while attending the carver center for arts & technology and studying visual arts. it was then and there that he realized the possibilities that software and other technology offered to him as a tool to utilize in the creation of music. having had a natural talent for visual arts from a young age, much of his creative focus had been channeled into drawing, scultpure, and other visual forms, but he gradually became bored with traditional studies and media and grew more interested in using technology as a bridge to the future. because he could not afford expensive gear, and due to a general lack of musical talent, much of his experimenting and development regarding music has revolved around computer software. for medic, the process of working on music has often been driven by a creative right brain functioning in conjunction with and being processed through more logical and mechanical left brain activity manipulating and interfacing with the power of computers and machines to materialize sound. with motivation in place, he has managed to progress musically through self teaching, experimentation, and insight from others with a similar interest or knowledge regarding sound. because of increasing demand, medic eventually decided to commit to the completion of a full length album, and in april of 2007, medic finally released his debut album "01101100011011110111011001100101". the album features a collaboration with charles levi of my life with the thrill kill kult and pigface, and in addition to selling extremely well in the time since its release, the album has also received regular FM airplay and been featured on network television while also receiving lots of praise and acclaim from the general public and those in the music industry as well. a few months after the release of "01101100011011110111011001100101", the "Negative Impact V0.2" compilation featuring medic and 17 other artists was released for distrubution throughout the US and in Europe as well. in addition to his regular appearances as a "DJ" in the Baltimore/DC Metropolitan area, medic also does regular guest deployments at various types of venues and events throughout the entire northeast region (including NYC, Philadelphia, Delaware, etc.) additionally, medic will launch a full tour this year that will span the entire east coast and parts of the mid-west as well. stay jacked in and get your in[+]ection!

for starters, those in baltimore may want to refer to profiles for cabal, ascension, rapture, and more in medic's top friends! medic deploys every wednesday at the depot for cabal, and occasionally does guest spots for other nights at the depot as well. on thursdays in DC you can check out exposure , on fridays in DC you can participate in all the devilish debauchery that bound has to offer, and on saturdays in DC, check out midnight . for those of you in and around NYC, check out profiles for newyorkunderbelly (friday) and abstraction! (saturday) in medic's top friends for some trouble you can get yourself into! keep an eye out for bulletin postings informing you of events going on in the megalopolis, and watch this space for more info in the future. you never know where medic will deploy next.
