Anything pre 1960 that involved an instrument and "real" singers. I particularly like western swing, bluegrass, northern soul, hillbilly, R&B, rockabilly, surf, exotica, latin and big band music etc.
My old-time favourites are Irma Thomas, Ruth Brown, Arthur Alexander, Bob Wills Texas Playboys, Julie London, Anita O'Day, Barbara Lynn, Stanley Brothers, Etta James and the list goes on. Oh as for modern rockabilly and the likes
My favourite radio shows are Rock-It-Radio and some Australian shows such as Bluejuice (great R&B), Its A Gas (Rockabilly) and The Maltshop Hop(Doowop etc).
I love film noir, B-grade, arthouse, musicals and good old fashioned black and whites. My favourite flicks are: An Affair to Remember, The Big Sleep, Woman, The Killing, Beat Girl.
Anything good!!! TCM (TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES). Love Carnivale, Deadwood and anything with a cabaret, circus element.
Love architectural books (mid-century modern predominantly), autobiographies (particularly about 40'/50's movie stars), crime novels, schiffer/taschen books and anything related to my lifestyle. I also love collecting pin-up/burlesque/cheesecake magazines (especially Cabaret).
I'm in love with Barbara Lynn at the moment. Saw her in Green Bay and she rocked. I'm also in love with Frida Kahlo, as always shes my hero...
