Collecting vintage clothes and jewels. Hawaiiana, vintage rattan furniture and tikis. Bakelite. Checking out art shows, particularly low brow art (love Outre gallery in Melbourne). Bakelite. Goin' to seeing my pal's burlesque troupe (Hiball burlesque). Bakelite. Trying to sew (I'm crap at garment construction but ok at fixing/ repairing stuff). Bakelite. Tai chi, Qi gong, chinese medicine. Bakelite. Japanese mythology and warrior woodcut prints. Bakelite. Listening to and seeing music, hanging out with my gal pals and day dreaming a lot! Oh did I mention I like bakelite?
Like minded folk. If we don't know each other drop me a quick email to introduce yourself. I don't bite (generally speaking), and particularly love a chat with people who are hooked on the same stuff as me.
I pretty much dig most types of music except house/ doof doof and for some reason psychobilly- just don't like it! I love garage stuff -current and 60's stuff, surf instrumentals, chicano rock'n'roll, doo wop, rockabilly, hillbilly, western swing, latin jazz, lounge and exotica right through to 70's punk and new wave and a good dose of the 80s. I love digging back into stuff I grew up with- no matter how uncool. I don't like to be pigeon holed in my musical tastes or follow any rules.
Can't say my standards are high. Favorite movie (and soundtrack) ValleyGirl. Jon Waters flicks. Ghostworld. Yep told you- no classics on my list!
If I watch anything for 30 seconds I get sucked in. I'm hopeless. Best favourite in the whole wide world- Sopranos for something new and Hawaiian Eye for something old. Currently watching Extras, Lost, Medium. Missing Sopranos- the last season is not on here yet. Most embarassing TV viewed- the occasional B&B episode.
Love a good vintage architectural/ interior design journal mag or a vintage vogue!
Frida Kahlo, William Spratling and Alfred Shaheen. People who pursue what they are passionate about!
