About Me

So, a few months ago, I decided to take off and move to Bolivia! So, here I am, teaching high school math! I'm loving living here. I've met some great friends and am having fun adventures. They've only begun...
I'm a SoCal girl by birthright. I love the ocean, so of course I move to a landlocked country, right? I lived in Colorado, and feel like I have roots there, too. It's a great state. I've also lived in Canada during high school. "Blame Canada."
I like photographing my life and my friends. I love reading, but can never seem to find the time while working to complete a book. I alternate between reading books about math, popular fiction, and really great novels. I also really love movies, especially old movies.
I've been a teacher since 2003, teaching in California, until now. I love teaching math, which is good, because that's what it takes to be a good math teacher. Every once in a while, I have days and students that make it all worth while.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Adventurous and interesting people. I really value integrity in my friends. Oh, and Johnny Depp!

Music:

I just recently was given my dad's ipod. An amazing selection of music! I''ve listened to maybe 10% of it, and I really enjoy it all. I am a big fan of Etta James. I have some punk and ska favorites, from back in the day. I find myself listening to a lot of my "high school" music these days. I am a big fan of music, but I've never paid enough attention to be considered a connoisseur.

Movies:

LOVE THEM! I've seen many great movies, and many terrible ones (I even enjoy those.) It's amazing to me that any movies get made, especially great ones. I've been discovering old movies by watching TCM. I will miss "The Essentials" while I'm living in Bolivia.

Books:

I have an obsession with math books. I love books like pi, the golden ratio, the history of zero, the history of numbers, euclid's window, etc...

I also have a silly obsession with the janet evanovich Stephanie Plum series. She's a jersey girl bounty hunter- it kicks ass. It's really just good fluff reading.

I've read some great books in recent years, but I don't read as much as I used to. Grown-up life is taking a toll on my time for reading.

My Blog

math geekin' out

I just watched the coolest math geek movie ever! So what is the dvd to which I refer? The colours of infinity! It's all about fractal geometry, and it is the coolest thing ever!  It's actually qu...
