While most ryders in tha south are grippin grain, this dude is one of the few goin against it. He definitely ain't your average southern born rapper, whether physically, intellectually or lyrically. Baller, Businessman and Recording Artist, Marbue "Bigg Vice" Dennis Jr was born on the Southwest side of Houston, Texas. At the fresh age of 16 months he moved to Africa's western region to live with his native family. Years later, the 2nd government takeover within only a decade and the 1st official civil war in Liberia had besieged the country's capital forcing Vice to eventually return to H-Town. Marbue says those "War Years" had a profound effect on not only his life, but the lives of all West African people. The culmination of his experiences thru those hard times is what seemingly makes him a step ahead of the rest. During the early and mid 90's, Marbue's main influences within the music industry were Rap A Lot Records, Suave House, Bad Boy Entertainment and Death Row Records. He was mainly interested in their success. By the late 90's, his ears were fixated and tuned in to the raw and youth driven underground sound of Houston's best. Scarface and the 5th Ward boys, U.G.K., E.S.G., Fat Pat, DJ Screw and the Screwed Up Click on the "South Side of that H-Town" were holding it down, but more close to home at the time, was the impact of Swishahouse Records. "Back in my highschool days, we all used to crowd around tables and garbage cans or wherever we could spit at and make beats while we freestyle battled."
After highschool, Bigg Vice got a full scholarship to play division 1 basketball. He led the Big West conference in scoring two years in a row and also dominated the paint with his rebounding and shot blocking. While doing his thing with ball on the west coast, Vice was crowned the champion of the MTV Campus Invasion freestyle battle in California in 2003 and never looked back. Soon after he was on the road traveling to Vegas, Virginia, DC, Philly, and NYC to let people know about his rap skills. Over the years he's managed to catch the interests of rap's pioneers the Sugar Hill Gang, Big Daddy Kane, Eve, and even Nelly. Because of his loud powerful voice and witty lyricism, they have compared him to some of hip hops finest MCs (KRS One, Biggie, Luda). But don't let his slick rhymes fool you, Mr. Dennis is all about his business. He has been making a name for himself as "one of Texas top lyricists" and on the infamous myspace website he has even been contacted by P. Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment label due to his buzz. It doesn't stop there, this young dude is so passionate about music that he's traveled to Germany, Turkey, Ukraine, Sweden, Norway, France and Italy to promote his label Lonestar Family Records. A true hustler, Vice has accomplished all this with absolutely no manager, staff or personal DJ. And when he ain't in the studio or promotin his craft, you can find him playin professional basketball somewhere overseas, making moves net-workin with the next-person...
Through his toughest times of being broke, from surviving war as an immigrant, being homeless, hustlin that green, runnin an escort service, ballin, goin through life's ups and downs, doin whatever to survive, he's perservered ON HIS OWN. He's determined to turn what he calls an "Independent Grind" to a "Major Movement". For him, somewhere between all he's seen and all he's been thru, the fakes & snakes, the haters & losers, somewhere between Liberia & Houston... there's still the TRUTH, somewhere between it all... there's still Vice City!!!!
