I actually have a degree in film and video but I don't study it at all... most movies I see are simply disappointing and make me curious where the millions and millions of dollars are going. Documentaries however, documentaries can change the world. Any good ones you have in mind?
I have a challenge for you! Watch TV for one half hour. Yep. Just a sitcom's worth. 30 minutes. But I want you to do something a little different the whole time you watch the TV... turn it off. Yes, watch a TV for one half hour... and don't back out 15 minutes into it... really go for it. The funniest thing about this excersize? I bet you'll have learned more in that 30 minutes than you ever do watching a sitcom. As for the programs to see when the TV is on? There are definately great programs that have invaded the mainstream. But let's be honest, there are reasons why thousands of free-spirited and open-minded folks across the world are sick of this device. It's because it's running our lives and watering down our culture. I only hope that one day it's mass-communicative powers are used for good! Ironically, I've fantasized about televisions being used to save the world one day. Anyone feel the same?
The Dark Tower Series, The Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings, Marvel comics, old-school Dark Horse comics, Foxtrot, The Far Side Galleries, yes I know I should read more.
My brother. My Mother. My Father. Those who have lovingly filled those roles for lost little brothers/sons like myself... and those who have made sacrifices that I will hopefully never have to make. Those who stand up for their will, even if it means the worst... especially if they do so peacefully. For the type of spirit that stands in front of a tank... thanks for fighting the good fight. I can only hope to be half as empowered as you one day.
