About Me

Latest news: ANN ARBOR! Myself and four of my greatest, most fantastic friends will be starting new lives in the great gem of the midwest, Ann Arbor, Michigan. I hope to extend our fantastic circles of friends and find new ones, so if you know anyone of the area that is TOP quality, please point them in my direction. Don't worry Toledo folk, I'll be stinking up T-Town at least three-four nights a week for quite a few months. Sooooo, My name's Eric Scott Baker. Most of my friends call me Baker, and most of my friends who are as dorky as me call me Mithris ...................... Here's a recent dorky bit that you might enjoy... http://www.toledoblade.com/assets/slideshows/dagorhir/index. html Sooooo... moving on..... My daily life? It's filled with creative projects that I don't spend nearly enough time on. Recently, I'm struggling with the Ragnarok XXII documentary, kicking around ideas for "Travel Experience Documentaries" (details to come), glass (check out my photos... and uh... I'm happy to do custom work. :D), sketching, dancing, designing, fire performing (mainly rope dart and firebreathing for now) and some random other forms of ..mainly painting, sewing, photography, music. I cut loose with dancing. Dancing! My true release. Second to that is combat. It is how I have melted my aggression away over the years. If you want more details on this fabulous game we play, and also where you see the name "Mithris" come from, go to www.eryndor.com ..... the national game is www.dagorhir.com .... and don't be afraid to ask me questions. This dorky battle/party/love fest is open to everyone! .................................. Have you ever felt so inspired that every moment is mixed with a feeling of ungratefulness, anticipation, motivation, and sheer awe? I'm recently overwhelmed with such thoughts, and my body, mind, and spirit are feeling a wanderlust like never before. Much of that was recently fueled by a fantastic festival called Burning Man. Head to www.burningman.com for an insufficient explanation of that insanely righteous world. But most of my wanderlust is simply motivated by my love for the world, and the people of it. I have been very selfish in the last 23 years, often focusing my energy on personal pleasures and wasting brain waves one way or another. But little by little I am progressing! This world is too vast, too beautiful, and has far too much potential to not fight for it. Not just fight for it, but protect it. We are the Earth Guardians, and we will dance our way to utopia. For all my sisters and brothers who feel the same, send some thoughts my way, but no need to send your love. I can feel that already. It is our optimism and our collective ambition that will save the world. We live in the most exciting time the world has ever seen. I plan on leaving my mark toward utopia, but as for my name, I'm ready for that to be left with dust in the wind........................................ and speaking of wind, I feel it guiding me... soon... on two wheels... to the west. ... ... ... ...Oh, and if you want to see the majority of the recorded visual beauty during last year's trip to Costa Rica, check these out... http://photobucket.com/albums/e77/Mithris/ .....and..... http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i5/ericcostarica/

Movies:

I actually have a degree in film and video but I don't study it at all... most movies I see are simply disappointing and make me curious where the millions and millions of dollars are going. Documentaries however, documentaries can change the world. Any good ones you have in mind?

Television:

I have a challenge for you! Watch TV for one half hour. Yep. Just a sitcom's worth. 30 minutes. But I want you to do something a little different the whole time you watch the TV... turn it off. Yes, watch a TV for one half hour... and don't back out 15 minutes into it... really go for it. The funniest thing about this excersize? I bet you'll have learned more in that 30 minutes than you ever do watching a sitcom. As for the programs to see when the TV is on? There are definately great programs that have invaded the mainstream. But let's be honest, there are reasons why thousands of free-spirited and open-minded folks across the world are sick of this device. It's because it's running our lives and watering down our culture. I only hope that one day it's mass-communicative powers are used for good! Ironically, I've fantasized about televisions being used to save the world one day. Anyone feel the same?

Books:

The Dark Tower Series, The Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings, Marvel comics, old-school Dark Horse comics, Foxtrot, The Far Side Galleries, yes I know I should read more.

Heroes:

My brother. My Mother. My Father. Those who have lovingly filled those roles for lost little brothers/sons like myself... and those who have made sacrifices that I will hopefully never have to make. Those who stand up for their will, even if it means the worst... especially if they do so peacefully. For the type of spirit that stands in front of a tank... thanks for fighting the good fight. I can only hope to be half as empowered as you one day.
