Darkside shop owners Don Kroll and Leon Battiste opened Darkside in May of 2007 with the mission of bringing the best tattoo and piercing artists in the Bradley, IL area together. They also strive to provide the safest and most comfortable experience to each client. In the interests of the industry and the shop, all involved with the shop follow the safety and cleanliness standards set forth by the Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishment Registration Act . Darkside has also been active in the creation of standards in the Act so the tattoo and piercing industry in Illinois as a whole can be considered exemplary.

Darkside tattoo artists include:
Tim Plumley, a 24 year old from Clifton, IL. Tim has completed three years of art school and teaches oil painting seminars. Tim focuses on the relation of oil painting and tattooing. Tim has been tattooing for nearly two years, formerly at Skin of a Different Color in Aurora. Tim works as a full-time tattoo artist and freelance portrait artist with work visible all over the Kankakee area.
Veruca is a 21 year old with tattoo influences such as Gunnar, Cool-Aid, and Kevin Starai. Veruca has been tattooing since late 2004. She enjoys tattooing animals and realistic flora. Veruca also models for GodsGirls.com and tattoos for Artkore Tattoo in Normal, IL.
Dan Plumley, a 24 year old artist. Dan also tattoos at Skin of a Different Color in Aurora. Dan graduated from art school and now teaches color theories and tattoo techniques for OSHA and Health Management. Dan has 6 years of tattooing under his belt and continues travelling and doing guest spots at various studios. Dan's tattoos have been published in the New York Times for his portraits and he designs book covers for Medallion press with digital painting.
Darkside piercing artists include:
Leon Battiste, who has been a professional piercing artist for 14 years. Leon attended this years Association of Profesional Piercers conference in Las Vegas to further his piercing knowledge. He continues to learn his field and will never stop. To Leon, piercing isn’t just a job, it’s a passion. Leon loves Star Wars and is a cage-fighting coach.
Carrie Hale has been piercing for two and a half years under Leon Battiste. Carrie is also a paramedic for the Herscher, IL fire department. Carrie also attended this years Association of Professional Piercers conference in Las Vegas to further her education.
